It was not supposed to rain, but of course it did when we ventured out to find cheesecloth for our Easter food.
Es sollte nicht regnen, aber natürlich hat es das doch getan, als wir Käsetuch für unser Osteressen gesucht haben.
We got off close to the Shard to find Borough Market. I had bought cheesecloth here last time we were in London.
Bei der Shard sind wir ausgestiegen, um Borough Market zu besuchen. Dort habe ich Käsetuch gekauft, als wir das letzte Mal in London waren.

Borough Market
Lots of "interesting" fish, but no cheesecloth. They were sold out.
Es gab sehr "interessanten" Fisch, aber kein Käsetuch. Es war ausverkauft.
So we decided to walk across London Bridge to find some downtown at an "ironmonger's." What you see there is Tower Bridge, but we are on London Bridge.
Also haben wir uns entschlossen, über die London Bridge (mit Blick auf Tower Bridge) zu gehen und bei einer "Eisenwarenhandlung" einzukehren. Sie haben sogar welches verkauft.
We passed the Monument to the Great Fire of London.
Wir sind am Monument vorbeigekommen, das an das schlimme Feuer in London erinnert.

Einfach schön ist es in London. Ich bin mir zwar sicher, dass es auch unschöne Gegenden gibt, aber Eure Bilder machen immer Lust, endlich mal hinzufahren. Schade, dass es kein Käsetuch gab. Habt Ihr woanders noch eins gefunden?
ReplyDeleteJa, London hat viele schöne Gegenden, aber es gibt auch traurige oder häßliche Stellen. Um den Flughafen Heathrow ist es ziemlich schrecklich und in einigen östlichen Stadtteilen auch. Da gehen wir aber nicht hin, weil es auch gefährlich ist. Wir haben dann das Käsetuch doch noch gefunden und es ist schon im Einsatz.
DeleteJa, ich glaube das ist wohl ähnlich wie in vielen Superstädten, also sehr großen Großstädten. In den USA haben wir auch immer bestimmte Gegenden gemieden wenn wir mal nach Pittsburgh gefahren sind.

What a sweet black cat! Are these cats feral with someone who feeds them regularly, or are they pets of people living in the neighborhood?
We did, after asking around and somebody thinking that "muslin cloth" for jam making would also work. That is what we bought. Technically, a thin tea towel does work, but all the towels in this house are way too thick!
DeleteI had never heard of that artist before (the sculpture is fairly recent). I also thought it was interesting.
All those cats do have owners and are not always friendly. Some like to be petted, but others scratch. This black one likes Flora and then there is a black and white one, who seems to like us all. They all have a little cat door in their apartments and come and go as they please.
