Finds at Yard Sale/Flohmarktfundstücke

Merry-Go-Round: A Book About Nouns (Turtleback School & Library Binding Edition) (World of Language (Prebound))How Much Is a Million? 20th Anniversary Edition (Reading Rainbow Books)The Legend of the PoinsettiaFollow the Drinking GourdWe had another hot day today.  Jonathan and Charlotte went to a friend's house.  After a while Jonathan came with us to the fire department's yard sale while Charlotte stayed at her friend's house to run through the sprinkler.  I found some nice books at the yard sale.  A former elementary school teacher was selling some of her books.  From her I got Follow the Drinking Gourd, The Legend of the Poinsettia, How Much Is a Million?, Merry-Go-Round: A Book About Nouns,  George Washington's Breakfast, Maps and Globes,  and Bosch.  We also found Little Women and And Then What Happened, Paul Revere?.

Charlotte later went to the yard sale with her friend and her friend's father while all the others rested from the heat.  My dh signed up all the children for ballet after lunch.  Our  local ballet studio closed after the last recital, but it has been taken over by two energetic young women.  Now Jonathan and Charlotte will have dance three times per week.  Miriam will have lessons once a week for an hour, and Veronika once a week for 45 minutes.  Next week we will have to drive to the big city to get new ballet shoes for the older ones.

Because of the heat we later retreated to the lake and joined many other Labor Day Weekend visitors at the beach and in the water.  Tomorrow it's supposed to be cooler, so maybe that was the end of summer today.

While on vacation we stopped     at Trader Joe's.  We don't have a Trader Joe's around here, but like to stop there on the way to pick up some food for the trip.  They had small shopping carts and stickers for the children, a highpoint for Veronika and Flora!

P.S.  I don't know why, but this post looks better in Google Chrome than Internet Explorer!

Yard Sale/Flohmarkt

Mary: The Mother of JesusOur local fire department had their bi-annual yard sale today. So in the morning we combined ballet and baseball practice with looking at "treasures" at the yard sale. The whole village is always there and it's one of the big social events here.  We actually found some books for homeschooling including a biography of Marie Curie, Tomie de Paola's Mary, some of James Joyce's and Poe's literature, and Through the Looking Glass on tape.  Somebody also gave Veronika a sun hat.
