Sunday Occupations/Sonntagsbeschäftigungen

Today Miriam got sick, now there are three healthy people left.  Charlotte started to sort through some old treasures (mostly paper) to see if she can get rid of some.  I'm not sure if she was able to throw anything out or not -- she isn't finished.  During our reading time she read in The Young Peace Maker: Student Activity Book - Set.  The book was recommended at Simply Charlotte Mason in their curriculum under "personal development" for 4th grade.  It's about problem solving from a Christian viewpoint.  Jonathan listened to Gregorian Chant sung by the Schola of the Hofburgkapelle in Vienna. 

Then all the healthy children baked cookies with Daddy.  Later on, for our Easter time book, we read Little Rose of Sharon. 

Heute ist Miriam krank geworden, jetzt haben wir noch drei ganz gesunde Leute übrig.  Charlotte hat heute angefangen, einige alte Schätze (vorwiegend Papiere) auszusortieren.  Ob sie sich wirklich von einigen trennen kann, weiß ich noch nicht, da sie noch nicht fertig ist.  Während unserer Lesezeit hat sie in The Young Peace Maker: Student Activity Book - Set gelesen, eine Serie zur Charakterbildung in der vierten Klasse, die bei Simply Charlotte Mason empfohlen wird.  Es geht hier um Problemlösungen im alltäglichen Leben von einem christlichen Standpunkt aus.  Jonathan hat sich gregorianischen Gesang der Schola der Hofburgkapelle in Wien angehört.  Später haben alle gesunde Kinder Kekse mit ihrem Papa gebacken.  Abends haben wir als unser Osterzeitbuch Little Rose of Sharon gelesen. 

Main Lesson Work/Hauptepochenarbeit

Jonathan built a musical instrument today out of glass jars filled with different levels of water.  He tried to create the scale by striking them with a mallet.  He then described his experiment in his main lesson book. 

Jonathan hat ein Musikinstrument aus Wassergläsern und Glockenspielschlegeln gebaut.  Die Wassergläser hat er mit unterschiedlichen Mengen Wasser gefüllt.  Er hat versucht, eine Tonleiter aufzubauen.  Anschließend hat er sein Experiment in sein Heft gemalt und geschrieben. 

Charlotte was supposed to read several pages in Norse Myths, but she finished the whole book -- almost 150 pages.  She just couldn't put it down!

Charlotte sollte nur einige Seiten in ihren nordischen Mythen lesen, aber sie hat das ganze Buch -- fast 150 Seiten -- zu Ende gelesen.  Es war einfach zu spannend!

 

Miriam did some math in  Miquon Math and also read to Veronika from A Child's .  This is one of her favorite books.  She also started Sanders' Union Reader (Christian Liberty Eclectic Reader, Book C).  We got that one for free from some fellow homeschoolers.  You can read it online for free here.  Book of Character Building: Growing Up in God's World - At Home, at School, at Play, Book 1

Miriam hat einige Seiten in Miquon Math gerechnet und dann Veronika von dem Buch A Child's Book of Character Building: Growing Up in God's World - At Home, at School, at Play, Book 1 vorgelesen.  Dieses Buch gehört zu ihren Lieblingsbüchern.  Sie hat auch ein neues Lesebuch angefangen, welches wir von anderen Heimschülern bekommen haben: Sanders' Union Reader (Christian Liberty Eclectic Reader, Book C).  Man kann dieses Lesebuch auch kostenlos hier lesen.
