Nicholas Nickleby (it is a very long book, remember), but I thought I would share three delightful children's books about Dickens. The first one is
Charles Dickens: The Man Who Had Great Expectations, the second one is
Charles Dickens: England's Most Captivating Storyteller, a book with many little claps and "realia" inside, e.g., pictures of book covers, newspaper articles, letters to open, topics to explore (industry, orphans, theater, etc.), and much more, and the last one (I have mentioned it here before) is
A Boy Called Dickens. Each is different and they complement each other nicely. So if you ever happen to read books by Dickens with your family, find these books at the library. They make Dickens' world come truly alive!
Wir lesen immer noch Nikolas Nickleby (dieses lange Buch, von dem ich neulich geschrieben habe), aber ich habe gedacht, daß ich auch unsere Sekundärliteratur dazu erwähnen sollte. Das erste Buch heißt Charles Dickens: The Man Who Had Great Expectations, das zweite heißt Charles Dickens: England's Most Captivating Storyteller, ein Buch, in dem man Briefe lesen kann, Kläppchen aufmachen kann und sich in Dickens Welt durch Themen wie Industrie, Waisenkinder, Theater usw. vertiefen kann, und das dritte, welches ich hier schon einmal erwähnt habe und welches A Boy Called Dickens heißt. Alle drei Bücher ergänzen sich gut. Für deutsche Leser ist das natürlich nicht so interessant, doch ist Dickens Pflichtlektüre für amerikanische Oberschüler. Da sind solche Bücher sehr hilfreich.
