Recovery/Genesung

I am recovering from a tooth extraction that happened on Monday.  After dealing with tooth pain for over a year and a half in one particular tooth and many different treatments (including a root canal and crown), I finally decided it was time for that tooth to go.  So Peter drove me to an oral surgeon in Lockport and I had that tooth out in a somewhat complicated procedure.  Now I have to take it easy for at least this week: no bending, no lifting, boring food.  I hope I will be well enough to attend the Agricultural Fair on the weekend, though.  And I hope that I will be pain-free soon.

Ich erhole mich gerade von einem gezogenen Zahn.  Nachdem ich seit mehr als anderthalb Jahren einen wehen Zahn gehabt habe und ihn von tausenden Zahnärzten und Spezialisten behandelt habe lassen (auch mit Wurzelbehandlung und Krone), habe ich ihn mir am Montag bei einem Kieferchirurgen entfernen lassen.  Peter hat mich dorthin gefahren und nach einer etwas komplizierten Stunde war der Zahn raus.  Jetzt muß ich mich mindestens bis Samstag schonen, darf mich nicht bücken, nichts heben usw.  Essen kann ich auch nicht viel.  Hoffentlich kann ich aber am Wochenende zur Landwirtschaftsausstellung im Museum.  Und hoffentlich habe ich bald keine Schmerzen mehr.

Our field trip on Wednesday brought us to Lockport, NY, home of the famous "Flight of Five," five locks in a row on the Erie Canal.  Jonathan drove us almost all the way to Lockport.

Unser Ausflug am Mittwoch hat uns nach Lockport geführt.  Dorf befindet sich eine fünfstufige Schleuse, eine einmalige Konstruktion des Eriekanals.  Jonathan hat uns fast die ganze Strecke dahin gefahren.

 Our guide points out that those dents were made to place dynamite into and then blast the rock away, a task given to children that were about 10 years old.
