Peter arrived here at home around 1:15 a.m.  We were already asleep, but I woke up, when he crept into bed.  He had an uneventful flight and now we are happy to have him back home.  He has emptied his suitcases and brought back some neat books I asked him to get.  The first one is the Word Wasp (American edition), which I will use with Flora.  We have been using Toe by Toe and the Hornet Literacy Primer with very good results.  Soon we will tackle the Word Wasp.  

The two other books he brought back are both from The School of Life: What Adults Don't Know About Art and Big Ideas from History (there seems to be an American edition coming out soon).  We already own their philosophy and architecture books.  Both are excellent.  And he also brought back some authentic halva (Sunita brand), some herbal teas, and other "British" goodies.   

Peter ist heute nacht/morgen so um 1.15 Uhr angekommen.  Wir waren schon im Bett, aber ich bin aufgewacht, als er ins Bett gekrochen kam.  Sein Flug war problemlos und jetzt sind wir froh, daß er wieder zu Hause ist.  Er hat seine Koffer schon ausgepackt und u.a. schicke Bücher zurückgebracht, die ich gerne haben wollte.  Eins, das englische Rechtschreibung übt (für Flora, wir haben schon zwei von denselben Autoren), eins über Geschichte und eins über Kunst.  Die letzten beiden Bücher sind von School of Life und wir haben schon ihr Philosophiebuch, das es auch auf Deutsch gibt (hier), und ihr Architekturbuch, aber diese gibt es alle noch nicht auf Deutsch, glaube ich.  Dann hat er auch noch ein paar englische Kräutertees und Halva (von Sunita) mitgebracht.

Rain and Timmy/Regen und Timmy

The last days have been wet and rainy.  Today, we even had a thunderstorm.  

Die letzten Tage waren naß und regnerisch.  Heute hat es sogar gewittert.  

We have been doing more routine things: going to the dentist, walking to the library to pick up books, studying, reading, teaching, etc.  

Wir machen im Moment eher Alltagsdinge: Zahnarztbesuche, Büchereibesuche, um reservierte Bücher abzuholen, lernen, unterrichten usw.

The trees are getting leaves.

Some new books we got are Step Inside Homes Through History, Happy, Healthy Minds, and The School of Life: An Emotional Education (paid links).  If you are not familiar with the children's books from "The School of Life," check them out here.  I bought the philosophy book last time we were in London and think it is one of the best philosophy books for children.  Recently, I was able to flip through the book on art and the one on architecture; both are superb.  

Wir haben drei Bücher bei der Bücherei abgeholt, von denen jedoch keine deutschen Übersetzungen vorliegen.

"Our" bird Timmy died back home, which made us very sad.  He had been so active just recently.  Here is a video of him:

P.S. Will you please say a quick prayer for my Aunt Hanne?  She just died after a battle with cancer.

P.S. Über ein Gebet für meine Tante Hanne würde ich mich freuen.  Sie ist nach einer Krebserkrankung gestorben.
