Grading/Korrigieren

Time for games
Zeit zum Spielen

The semester is officially over, but grading is not.  Our grades need to be handed in by Tuesday.  We did our last day of homeschool today and are now officially on Christmas break.  Charlotte and Miriam are also done with their papers and Jonathan had his last law exam today.  He is supposed to be coming home on Monday, but with the snow storm coming in, we are not sure if his flight will work out.  Miriam is working today: She is helping out with an elderly woman in town, whose husband passed away a few months ago (Miriam used to help them both).  Flora had her last day of walking Cooper for the year.  She will resume her walks in January.  We are trying to shift our thoughts to Christmas cookie baking, but it is hard with so much grading we still need to do.  We also still need to work at our crafting: each year we make presents for godparents and grandparents.

  1. I hope you can finish your grading soon and focus on the beautiful holiday, and I hope all goes well with Jonathan's flight home. It's nice to see your girls together :) xoxo

    1. I am done grading. Now I have to add up all the individual grades and then calculate the overall grades. But I will get them done by tomorrow. Jonathan's flight got delayed so many times today that we thought he would not come anymore. Peter has been waiting for him for over six hours. They are leaving the airport right now and still have to get from PA to here. But we have planned all the cookies we want to bake.

  2. Oh, they must both be so tired. Safe travels to them and happy baking to you (for when you get all the ingredients :)

    1. Yes, they were. The girls started baking yesterday. Peter and I handed in our grades 1 minute before the deadline :). In a few minutes the plumber will come because our kitchen sink is leaking a lot. Last week, we needed a new igniter for the oven and the week before that it was the car. Too many broken things. We are still waiting for the windows to arrive! We have two cracked ones . . .

  3. Oh no, two cracked windows in the winter . . we have broken things also. Last winter we had a cracked window at the house and this winter our tub spout leaks. We'll get it fixed in the new year (hopefully!). Our heater in the car is only working now on the highest setting . . (it has slowly moved through all four settings). The AC doesn't work at all. We're hoping to get that fixed in the March . . but we're not even sure if it can be fixed.
I have to laugh about you and Peter just making the deadline by one minute :) xoxo

    1. I remember that you said it was hard to find a replacement window because nobody wanted to get out to Montauk. So you must have found somebody? Is it the tub spout in the city? Did you know that you can contact the people who send you the water bill and explain you have a dripping faucet and that is why you are using more water? I am not sure if you need some kind of note from the plumber, but you might be able to reduce the amount on the bill. Oh, those heaters are nasty! We have had something like that happen too, but then it corrected itself. Sometimes you just need a new filter. We are very happy to have made it in time and not have had to ask for an extension!
