Horsetail/Ackerschachtelhalm

Flora and I went to find horsetail today.  Unfortunately, the fertile shoots have almost all disappeared already, only the vegetative shoots are more than abundant.  We did find two sad looking fertile ones.

Flora und ich haben heute Ackerschachtelhalm gesucht.  Leider sind die fruchtbaren Sporentriebe schon fast alle wieder abgestorben, nur die grünen Triebe findet man mehr als genug.  Wir haben dann noch zwei mickrige Exemplare der fruchtbaren gefunden.

Flora and I watched Mysteries of the Great Lakes today; you can see the trailer above.  We are doing a study of the different areas of the U.S. this year, and this video shows a lot of interesting details about the ecosystem of the Great Lakes, especially about sturgeons.
