Unsere Waldorfschule in der "Nähe" hatte heute eine Zoom Veranstaltung zu Hanukkah. Eine jüdische Familie hat von ihren Bräuchen erzählt und gezeigt, wie man eine Menora anzündet. Wir behandeln die jüdischen Feste in der dritten Klasse und ich habe u. a. darüber hier und hier gebloggt. We read two new picture books about Hanukkah today:

Heute haben wir auch zwei neue Bilderbücher zu diesem Anlaß gelesen: Simon and the Bear und The Hanukkah Magic of Nate Gadol.
Of course, we have not forgotten about the Feast of the Immaculate Conception on Tuesday and even could go to Mass for that -- in spite of Covid.
Natürlich haben wir nicht das Fest Mariä Empfängnis am Dienstag vergessen, wofür wir sogar in die Kirche trotz Corona gehen konnten.

The one with the bear is really cute, the other one is a bit contrived. I often forget checking that box too.
DeleteP.S. What is the proper way of lighting a Menorah?
ReplyDeleteYou have to light the candle in the middle first (Shamash). On the first night, set one candle to the far right of the menorah. On the following night, add a second light to the left of the first one, and then add one light each night of Hanukkah - moving from right to left. Each night, light the newest (left-most) candle first and continue lighting from left to right.

DeleteGern geschehen! Wußtest Du, daß es bei Euch Reste eines kleinen jüdischen Friedhofs gibt? In Bonn gibt es die Gesellschaft der Christlich-Jüdischen Zusammenarbeit. Dort habe ich früher an Veranstaltungen teilgenommen. Sehr empfehlenswert!
