The GCV&M had a special event on the weekend (Covid safe) to which the children and I drove. Peter had to stay home to work on his grading because the grades are due on Tuesday. Charlotte, Miriam, and Veronika were volunteering, Jonathan, Flora and I had a certain time slot to enter the museum. We first dropped off the girls by driving behind all the historic buildings and getting them close to the place where their costumes were. Then we drove to the parking lot to eat our lunch: Vegetable soup with chickpeas and vegetable muffins. I had taken our slow cooker along to keep the soup warm and we ate in the car because the museum is not serving hot food right now.

I bought an insulated carry bag for our slow cooker, which helps to carry it, but also to keep the food warm.

Our first stop was a presentation on "red hot woolens" or how to keep warm in the winter.

Standing and waiting outside to be let into the house (they only let in a certain number of people and sometimes you had to wait up to half an hour for your turn): Jonathan and Flora are trying crazy ballet positions.

ReplyDeleteIt felt so good to go somewhere! I was very proud of myself and the idea of taking along the slow cooker. We are trying to finish some baking, but many ingredients are stuck in the mail (and the stores around here don't carry them). We might have to do some baking next week, after Christmas.

ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful! We had never been to this event (it is quite expensive, even for members, but with the girls volunteering we only had to pay for Jonathan, Flora, and me.) I did not get to take a picture of Veronika. By the time we reached her house, it was too dark and all my pictures of her are just a black blur. It was quite dark, but the fire was a great idea to warm up. Our rose water has arrived, but not the almond extract and vanilla powder.

ReplyDeleteAh, the same story! Peter's sister's package is also stuck somewhere, between Indiana and New York and she sent it really early.
DeleteDas sieht aber wahrlich nach einem richtig schönen Tag aus. So schöne Bilder hast Du gemacht und es ist so wichtig, dass man sich beschäftigt während dieser Zeit. Toll, dass das Museum die Regeln bei Covid so gut einhält und es somit möglich macht, dass doch noch solche Veranstaltungen stattfinden können. Ich glaube sofort, dass es sehr kalt war, aber Du hast das ja vortrefflich mit der warmen Mahlzeit hinbekommen. Die Häuser sind so schön geschmückt und der Tannenbaum sieht auch schön aus. Tolle Kostüme haben die Kinder an. Alles wirklich toll!
