The Chemical History of a Candle/Die Naturgeschichte einer Kerze

Michael Faraday wrote a brilliant book on the chemistry of a candle.  Veronika and I are reading it right now.  We are using a rearranged edition by W. R. Fielding from our college library.  Our edition is from 1920.  Here are a few pictures.  

You can find the original book free online, though.   The book is the compilation of lectures Faraday held for young people.  What a perfect introduction to chemistry.  And it comes even better: Bill Hammack, a professor of chemistry, has turned the book into lectures with the demonstrations!  You can "hear and see" Michael Faraday for free, but also listen to a commentary about the lecture.

Veronika und ich lesen im Moment Die Naturgeschichte einer Kerze von Michael Faraday.  Dieses Buch dokumentiert Vorlesungen für junge Leute, die Michael Faraday gehalten hat.  Dazu hat er zahlreiche Experimente vorgeführt.  Ein amerikanischer Chemieprofessor hat diese Vorlesungen zu neuem Leben erweckt und dazu die Experimente vorgeführt.  Man kann das oben in den Videos sehen.  Er hat auch einen Kommentar zu jedem der Videos gemacht.  Das Buch von Faraday kann man auch heute noch kaufen oder kostenlos im Internet finden.
