Geese, Horse, and Black Friday/Gänse, Pferd und schwarzer Freitag

In our area, Black Friday is not really happening.  Going grocery shopping is not different from any other day.  We all drove up to Geneseo today, to get some groceries and look for some pieces of clothing because even college students still need clothes.

Hard to see, but those dark specks are thousands of Canada geese.
Man kann es nicht gut erkennen, aber die dunklen Flecken sind tausende von Kanadagänsen.

Today, the police was on horseback.
Heute ritt die Polizei auf dem Pferd.

  1. Geneseo looks like a pretty town. It's nice to look for things one needs on days that have good sales in the shops, but I think too many people buy what they don't need at some of these "events" at the big chain stores. We didn't visit any stores on Friday, but on Saturday morning, before I left CT, my sister and I visited the local country store in her town. They sell a lot of old furniture, framed photographs/paintings/water colors, jams, dishes and bowls, books and even clothing. Some of it handmade, some gently worn. It's very nice. It looks like you had a similar quiet family outing :)

    1. Geneseo has one of the SUNY schools and one of the good ones! It is very old and pretty, lots of big houses that are in good shape. It is close to where the biggest Seneca village used to be. It was called Little Beard's Town or Chenussio. Geneseo is close to Rochester, so the people who like to go shopping on Black Friday, go there and Geneseo stays "normal." Your county store sounds very cozy.
