Tuesday Pet Club/Dienstag Tierclub

Here are a few pictures from Flora's regular Pet Club hour this week.
Hier sind ein paar Fotos von Floras Tierclub diese Woche.

Bunnies
Häschen

Guinea pigs
Meerschweinchen

Goats
Ziegen

Spring is in the air!
Der Frühling kommt!

The children are holding guinea pigs.
Die Kinder halten Meerschweinchen.

The snowdrops are almost done blooming.
Die Schneeglöckchen sind schon fast verblüht.

Daffodils
Osterglocken

Hazel
Haselstrauch

Blackbird!  It is really hard to find them these days because many of them are dying here.
Amsel!  Leider sterben im Moment hier viele Amseln, weil es eine Mückenart gibt, die sie tötet.

Flora and another girl are changing the water for the bunnies.  We had to get her "wellies" in order to participate in this group.  Hers are quite fancy (but were on sale at Argos).

Yesterday, we did some exploring downtown with the help of this book (paid link).  I will post about it hopefully tomorrow.

Gestern waren wir in der Stadt und haben uns Ecken angesehen, die die meisten Touristen nicht kennen.  Dafür haben wir ein spezielles Buch benutzt.  Hoffentlich kann ich davon morgen berichten.

  1. The Pet Club is wonderful. Taking care of animals is very special. Did you learn about the group on your last visit? Her wellies are colorful! I'm sorry to hear about the blackbirds :(

    1. It is a great opportunity for her. No, I found about this group this time. I always look for children/teen groups activities that are in walking distance when we get to London. This time I found this Pet Club. She looks very stylish in her new "wellies."

    2. Oh, and I do love blackbirds so much. It is heartbreaking to read about their decline.

    3. I love how resourceful you are :) Was the group through the Ian Visits list also? Maybe there will be a miracle and the blackbirds will bounce back xoxo

    4. No, the group was not on Ian Visits. I just checked the farm's website. We saw several blackbirds today, which was a good sign.

    5. I'll have to mention that farm to Morgana. I think she would like it, and how nice that you saw the blackbirds today :)

    6. There is a farm close to where she is. It is called Stepney City Farm. I am sure she would love it. We have been hearing blackbirds too!

    7. I looked it up and sent her the link. It's not far from her at all. These little farms are nice. There are several different blackbirds . . we have many red winged blackbirds, but is the one you're hearing a rusty blackbird?

    8. That is what I thought, that it is close to her. They always offer workshops and activities for visitors. No, rusty blackbirds do not exist here. It is the common blackbird you see, Turdus merula. That is the one I grew up with.

    9. Ah, right, so I wouldn't be familiar with its call! However, it must be special for you, similar to how I feel about the red winged blackbird's call.

    10. It is the first bird to sing in the morning and the last one at night. It is so beautiful!
