The Princesses/Die Prinzessinnen

It was performance day today!  We dropped Veronika and Flora off at the high school and went downtown.

Heute war unser Vorführungstag!  Wir haben Veronika und Flora bei der Schule rausgeworfen und sind dann in die Innenstadt gefahren.

The first part of the show were individual dances of the different dance levels.  Veronika is on the left and Flora is in the second row and you cannot see her.  Both girls are in the highest level class.

Der erste Teil der Aufführung bestand aus verschiedenen Tänzen der jeweiligen unterschiedlichen Klassen.  Veronika ist ganz links und Flora ist in der zweiten Reihe, so daß man sie nicht sehen kann.  Beide Mädchen tanzen in der obersten Klasse.

There was also a part in the show where the teacher demonstrated what technique each class level is studying.  This is the pointe class with Veronika and Flora.  (Veronika is on the very left and Flora on the very right.)

Es gab auch einen Teil, wo die Ballettlehrerin gezeigt hat, was die unterschiedlichen Klassen gerade für Techniken üben.  Hier ist die Klasse, die Spitzentanz macht und in der Veronika und Flora sind.  Veronika ist ganz links und Flora ganz rechts.

But then the wolf came and killed the king.

Aber dann ist der Wolf gekommen und hat den König getötet.

The princesses are very sad.

Die Prinzessinnen sind sehr traurig.

Their mother, the queen, is afraid she might also lose her daughters and keeps her inside the palace.

Ihre Mutter, die Königin, hat Angst, daß sie auch ihre Töchter verliert, und läßt sie nicht mehr aus dem Palast.

They need to occupy themselves inside.  Flora (middle) is reading and Veronika (right) is doing needlework.

Sie müssen sich drinnen beschäftigen: Flora (Mitte) liest und Veronika (rechts) stickt.

Tea time

Es gibt Tee.

The dwarves feel sorry for the princesses and dig a tunnel for them to escape.

Die Zwerge buddeln einen Tunnel für die Prinzessinnen, weil sie ihnen leid tun.

The dwarves break through into the bedroom of the princesses and convince the princesses to leave through the tunnel.

Die Zwerge brechen durch und befinden sich im Schlafzimmer der Prinzessinnen.  Sie überzeugen die Prinzessinnen mit ihnen in den Wald zu kommen.

The princesses are dancing with the fairies.

Die Prinzessinnen tanzen mit den Feen.

The queen does not understand that her daughters' shoes are danced through each morning.

Die Königin versteht nicht, warum ihre Töchter jeden Morgen durchtanzte Schuhe haben.

The cobbler has to make new shoes every day.

Der Schuster muß jeden Tag neue Schuhe machen.

The princesses are putting on the new shoes.

Die Prinzessinnen ziehen die neuen Schuhe an.

The cobbler finds out about the secret tunnel and the dancing of the princesses and tells the queen.

Der Schuster findet das Geheimnis der Prinzessinnen heraus und erzählt der Königin davon.

The queen follows them and finds them dancing in the forest.

Die Königin folgt ihnen und entdeckt, daß sie im Wald tanzen.

Flora is the second from left and Veronika is the one on the very right.

Flora ist die Zweite von links und Veronika ist ganz rechts.

The daughters are shocked to find the queen there.

Die Töchter sind ganz erschrocken, als sie die Königin sehen.

But the queen is not angry, but realizes that she has done wrong in keeping her daughters locked up in the castle.  She apologizes.

Aber die Königin ist ihnen nicht böse, sondern merkt, daß sie ihren Töchtern unrecht getan hat und sie nicht hätte einsperren sollen.  Sie entschuldigt sich.

All dance together and are happy.

Alle tanzen zusammen und sind glücklich.

And then we took some more pictures on the stage.

Veronika got awarded the senior scholarship.  Here she is with her teacher, Ms. Sarah, and Charlotte.

Veronika hat ein Stipendium gewonnen.  Hier ist sie mit ihrer Lehrerin, Frau Sarah, und Charlotte.

We went out for ice cream afterwards and on the way back home saw lots of dame's rocket.

Wir haben anschließend Eis gegessen und auf der Rückfahrt viele Nachtviolen gesehen.
