Farm Visit/Bauernhofbesuch

This morning, we went on a field trip with one of our homeschooling groups.  We went on a hay wagon ride!  There were many new families in the group, people we had never met, and one lady was from Switzerland!

Charlotte, Flora, Miriam (Veronika was sitting next to me.)
Charlotte, Flora, Miriam (Veronika hat neben mir gesessen.)

We learned all about grass-fed cows.
Wir haben viel über Kühe gelernt, die nur mit Gras oder Heu gefüttert werden.

After the tour, we went to Alfred and had lunch.
Nach dem Ausflug haben wir in Alfred zu Mittag gegessen.

Back home, we found a toad in our raised bed.
Zu Hause saß eine Kröte im Hochbeet.

And then these three worked on some art/craft while Charlotte drove to our ballet studio to teach one of her summer classes.

Und dann haben diese drei gemalt und gewerkelt, während Charlotte zu unserem Ballettstudio gefahren ist, um dort eine ihrer Sommerklassen zu unterrichten.

  1. Oh, what a beautiful farm . . it looks like a very fun field trip. I love hay rides - was it a horse drawn ride (sometimes it's a truck . . ). Where did you have lunch in Alfred? Is Charlotte enjoying teaching? It must have been nice meeting the new families and the woman from Switzerland.

    1. It is an organic farm and we had visited it before, maybe 15 years ago. Unfortunately, it was a tractor pulling the wagon. We had lunch at the Terra Cotta Coffee House. We used to go there after my check-ups when I was pregnant with Veronika :). It was so nice to meet somebody who spoke German! Charlotte is enjoying her summer job, yes. It is a bit tricky because she has a variety of ages, but it is fun.

  2. Yes, I've had many tractor pull hay rides, but only one horse drawn hay ride :) The Terra Cotta Coffee House sounds nice .. with a nice memory attached too. Good luck to Charlotte with the variety of ages in her ballet class. I'm sure the children must love having her.

    1. I don't think the farm has horses, so it would have not worked. Our ballet teacher told me that the children love her as a teacher.
