Fischreiher in Santa Barbara
On Friday, Veronika and Flora finished their tests and I mailed them away: Flora's to Spokane and Veronika's to Front Royal. We also cleaned and did a lot of laundry because we wanted to visit the Celtic Faire. Peter sent many more pictures, especially from the ocean. Now he is on his way back (his plane is stuck in Chicago).
Am Freitag haben Veronika und Flora ihre Tests zu Ende gemacht und ich habe sie weggeschickt: Floras in den Staat Washington und Veronikas nach Virginia. Wir haben auch viel gewaschen und geputzt, weil wir heute zum Keltenfest wollten. Peter hat uns viele neue Fotos geschickt, besonders auch vom Meer. Jetzt befindet er sich auf dem Rückflug (im Moment steckt er in Chicago auf dem Flughafen fest).
I got up very early this morning, made pancakes for everybody and then we drove to the GCV&M. Veronika and Flora were volunteers and Charlotte, Miriam, and I enjoyed our time doing a lot of things.
Heute morgen bin ich früh aufgestanden, habe Pfannkuchen gemacht und dann sind wir alle zum Freilichtmuseum gefahren. Veronika und Flora waren Helferinnen und Charlotte, Miriam und ich haben unseren Tag genossen.

"Intruder": This is not part of the museum, but a fawn that has been left by its mother on one of the pastures of the museum. When the visitors leave, the mother comes back and cares for it.
"Eindringling": Dieses Kitz gehört nicht zu dem Museum. Die Mutter hat sich eine der Weiden des Museums als Kinderstube ausgesucht und kümmert sich um ihr Kind, wenn die Besucher weg sind.

After the museum closed, we rushed home (1 hour driving), ate supper (very fast), and drove to a concert we had been invited to.
Nachdem das Museum zugemacht hatte, sind wir schnell nach Hause gefahren (1 Stunde Fahrzeit), haben sehr schnell gegessen und sind zu einem Konzert gefahren, zu dem wir eingeladen waren.
Such a busy day with so much good music. I love hearing the bagpipes and drums at the Celtic Festival, and the evening concert was exciting! I also like Peter's photo of the egret in the water at Santa Barbara, and your photo of the fawn in the meadow. So sweet!
ReplyDeleteI was pretty tired after we were done with the day! Peter also found a seal on the beach in Santa Barbara. He looked injured and Peter reported him to the city. I hope somebody came out and looked at him.

DeleteI actually found the place online where you could report the seal :). Peter had to go back to his conference and I did some research to see what could be done. There is actually a huge fine if you touch those seals. There seem to be contaminated algae that the seals eat and then they get sick. Maybe that was the problem?!
