Veronika had her well-child visit for age 17 today. Our pediatrician has his office about 40 minutes away from us and thus Veronika and I had an early morning outing. After the check-up, we did some grocery shopping and bought some vegetable plants for the garden. The air quality has gotten almost worse: we are coughing and our eyes are itching because of the wildfires.
Veronika hatte heute ihre Vorsorgeuntersuchung beim Kinderarzt für 17jährige. Unser Kinderarzt hat seine Praxis ca. 40 Minuten entfernt von uns und so haben Veronika und ich einen schönen Morgenausflug gemacht. Anschließend waren wir noch einkaufen und auch bei einem Gewächshaus, wo wir noch Pflanzen für den Garten gekauft haben. Die Luft ist im Moment noch immer sehr schlecht, ich würde sogar sagen, schlechter als gestern. Uns tränen die Augen und wir husten etwas. Hoffentlich können diese Feuer bald gelöscht werden.

Lovely photo of Veronika, I hope the appointment went well and sorry to hear about the fires affecting air quality at your end - it must be very challenging for those nearer the epicentre. Since Peter is away I will pray that all remains well at your end!! Xx
ReplyDeleteThanks, San. She looks very impish, I think. The appointment went well, it was just the annual check-up. We had to wait for almost an hour before it was our turn (I am not sure what took so long). So we got home late and I did not have time to cook, but Charlotte and Miriam had already thought about that and put a wonderful lunch on the table :). Those wildfires are awful! We have felt really strange for those last few days: almost no sun, just this spooky orange glow, very cold, and lots of smoke. This afternoon, the sun came finally out. Peter is gone until Saturday. He is in California! Ontario is only a few hours away from us; no wonder we are getting all the smoke. I have to write to my dear friend Lois in Kingston to find out how she is doing. So many trees are lost! The East never really sees fires like this.
DeleteIch hatte von den Bränden und den damit verbundenen Problemen mit der Luft gelesen. Das sind wirklich schlimme Situationen und man kann nur hoffen, dass es sich nicht wiederholt.
ReplyDeleteEs ist sehr schlimm gewesen, aber es ist noch nicht vorbei! Sonntag gab es wieder solche Luft, doch war sie dieses Mal "höher", also hat man es nicht sofort gemerkt und es hat nicht nach Rauch gerochen.
