Michaelmas Play at the Waldorf School: The Devil's Scythe

It was a beautiful day.

Es war ein sehr schöner Tag.

We stopped at "our farm" (this is where Julius was born) and bought a pie pumpkin.

Wir haben auch bei unserem Bauernhof angehalten (hier ist Julius geboren worden) und haben einen Kürbis gekauft.

We briefly came home, the girls put on their ballet things, and off we went again in the other direction.  I graded my students' homework in the children's section of the library because the room I normally use was not open that day.

Wir sind kurz zu Hause gewesen, die Mädchen haben sich für Ballett umgezogen und dann ging es zur Ballettstunde in die andere Richtung.  Ich habe in der Kinderabteilung Hausaufgaben von meinen Studenten korrigiert, weil der normale Raum, den ich sonst benutze, heute abgesperrt war.  

Crafts and Michaelmas Bread/Handarbeit und Michaeli Brot

There was a macrame workshop for students on campus today.  Because Veronika is enrolled in a Hebrew class, she could attend it and came back with a plant hanger and plant and a little key chain.  She said there were many students attending the workshop.

Heute gab es einen Makramékurs bei der Uni.  Da Veronika im Moment ja einen Hebräischkurs macht, konnte sie auch daran teilnehmen.  Sieh at eine Blumeampel und einen kleinen Schlüsselanhänger gebastelt.  Es war ein sehr gut besuchter Kurs, hat sie erzählt.  

I turned my chicken bones into chicken stock.

Meine Hühnerknochen habe ich in Hühnerbrühe verwandelt.

And then it was time to bake our traditional harvest loaf for Michaelmas.

Und dann haben wir unser Michaelibrot gebacken, so wie wir das jedes Jahr tun.

And here is Flora's current handwork project.  It is almost finished.  We are still working on a tree and a mouse.

Und hier ist Floras Handarbeitsprojekt.  Es ist fast fertig.  Es fehlt noch ein Baum und eine Maus.

Fall Impressions/Herbsteindrücke

It was a rainy day, but for about 20 minutes, the rain stopped and we used that time to go for a walk.

Heute hat es viel geregnet, aber am Nachmittag gab es 20 Minuten "regenfrei" und da sind wir dann spazieren gegangen.

I bought some good fall fruit.

Ich habe Herbstobst gekauft.

For lunch, I roasted a whole chicken, cooked brown rice, and red cabbage!

Zum Mittagessen habe ich ein ganzes Huhn geröstet.  Dazu gab es Rotkohl und braunen Reis!

More Rainbows/Noch mehr Regenbögen

When driving to ballet, we saw a double rainbow again!  

Auf der Fahrt zum Ballett haben wir wieder einen doppelten Regenbogen gesehen!

Peter is coming home tonight: While I am typing this, he is already driving home from Buffalo.

Peter kommt heute nach Hause: Während ich das tippe, fährt er schon von Buffalo nach Hause.

Sunday Birds and Baked Goods/Sonntagsvögel und gebackene Leckereien

Veronika baked two kinds of scones and blondies for Sunday.

Veronika hat sehr fleißig für Sonntag gebacken.

The birds came to eat their food while we were eating our scones.

Auch die Vögel haben gefressen, als wir gefrühstückt haben.

And Peter saw this one in Frankfurt.

Und Peter hat diesen Vogel in Frankfurt gesehen.
