Flora baked a French apple cake for her geography studies.
Flora hat einen französischen Apfelkuchen für ihre Erdkundestudien gebacken.
We thought that this cake was not just a good cake for learning about France, but also a wonderful birthday cake for Our Lady on her birthday, September 8th.
Wir haben uns gedacht, daß dieser Kuchen nicht nur eine gute Gelegenheit ist, über die Küche Frankreichs etwas zu lernen, sondern er hat uns dann auch als Geburtstagskuchen für Maria gedient. Die Kirche feiert ihren Geburtstag am 8. September.

And yesterday, Flora and I took a walk to the house of her regular art teacher (not the summer on) to register for lessons. She will start next week.
Und gestern bin ich mit Flora zum Haus ihrer Kunstlehrerin marschiert, um sie für das neue Schuljahr für Kunststunden anzumelden. Nächste Woche geht es los.
We have had two busy weeks and I have not found a way to squeeze in much blogging. I guess we have to find our new rhythm first!
Wir haben jetzt zwei volle Wochen hinter uns und ich habe noch keine gute Zeit zum Bloggen gefunden. Wahrscheinlich muß sich alles erst noch besser einspielen.
Am Anfang des Schuljahres ist es hier auch immer das Gleiche, man muss sich erst wieder reinfinden in den Alltag. Flora sieht glücklich aus. Der Apfelkuchen ist auch super geworden! Zumindest sieht er sehr lecker aus.
ReplyDeleteStimmt, und wir basteln die ersten Wochen auch immer an unserem Studenplan herum, bis alles gut klappt. Flora ist immer glücklich, wenn sie einen Hund hat :). Der Kuchen hat gut geschmeckt, ein bißchen wir Pfannkuchen.
DeleteKinder und Tiere haben eh immer eine besondere Beziehung finde ich. Wir auch, am Stundenplan rumbasteln meine ich
DeleteStimmt! Auf jeden Fall die meisten Kinder. Jonathan hatte einmal große Angst vor Perlhühnern. Mein Stundenplan muß für Freitag total neu gemacht werden, weil wir ja nun doch auch Ballett haben. Ich war so froh, daß alles so gut klappte. Aber jetzt muß ich mir was Neues einfallen lassen.

DeleteJa, einige Sachen können wir halt nicht jede Woche machen, sondern müssen sie mit anderen Fächern abwechseln: Also z.B. eine Woche malen, dann die nächste Woche Schnitzen und dann wieder malen. Das geht natürlich nur gut mit solchen Fächern, aber nicht mit Mathe und Englisch.

ReplyDeleteIt was an online recipe. Our book had a French plain cake, but I wanted to liven it up a bit and found another recipe online.
DeleteThe cake is a fitting gift for Our Lady and I hope the walk with Cooper lifted Flora's spirits. The 8th was the second anniversary of my Dad dying and now the death of Queen Elizabeth. The last photo taken of her was a far cry from those of her Jubilee earlier in the year, her hands looked very purple and I reckon it must have taken great effort and dedication to duty to welcome our new PM. We are certainly living in some very strange times and it leaves me feeling a little out of sorts. I'm very glad therefore for my knitting, crochet, sewing and gardening 😊❤️. I hope you have had a restful weekend xx
ReplyDeleteYes, the cake had a double purpose! Oh, I did not know that it has been two years since the passing of your dad. It must have been a sad day for you. Queen Elizabeth really was the essence of duty and love for her country and people. I saw some pictures of her greeting the new prime minister. I did a lot of cleaning on the weekend, including the fire place and washing the wooden floor with a special cleaner. I also did a lot of gardening.
