We were able to watch a fox from our living-room today. He walked around, sat down, and cleaned himself very thoroughly.
Heute konnten wir einen Fuchs vom Wohnzimmerfenster aus beobachten. Er ist rumgegangen, hat sich hin gesetzt und sich dann geputzt.
Wir haben Peter beim Victoria Bahnhof getroffen und sind dann zur Westminster Kathedrale gegangen. Sie hatten eine Messe mit Kardinal Vincent.

The foxes are so interesting and very pretty I think. I suppose they must keep down the rodent population . . it's amazing how they wander in certain parts of London. We have ospreys out on Montauk and hawks in Manhattan . . and many feral cats (more in the Bronx and Brooklyn).
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a lovely mass for Ash Wednesday. Thanks for the links. I loved hearing about the "Great Gale at Yarmouth" by John Berney Crome and how the wind is the "breath of the spirit come to blow away all that keeps us from the fullness of life." What a beautiful metaphor.
This fox is very pretty, but big! And I know that some of those foxes jump garden walls and attack cat and small dogs. So they might be a threat to you. Yes, many birds have adopted to human habitats. There are lots of ospreys in Western New York in areas where people live (and also some bald eagles).
DeleteIt was a good Mass and we noticed that the cardinal had also gotten older :). I thought the art talk was well done. The National Art Gallery used to have talks like that in person, but they have not started them again, due to Covid. I thought it would be neat to see "The Great Gale at Yarmouth" in person, but it is way up north.
Wie niedlich. Der Fuchs schein keine größere Angst zu haben. Letzten Winter hatten meine Eltern einen im Garten und haben auch fleißig Fotos gemacht. Anschließend gab es Spuren im Schnee.
ReplyDeleteNein, er läuft hier dauernd rum und heute haben wir sogar noch einen kleinen gesehen. Ist der Fuchs immer noch bei Deinen Eltern?
DeleteNein, er war tatsächlich nur den einen Tag im Winter im Schnee da. An dem einen Tag Schnee den wir hatten. Lustig, oder? Ich glaube, das ist eigentlich unvorteilhaft wenn die Tiere sich so wohl in der Stadt fühlen.
DeleteVielleicht hat der Schnee ihn mehr zu den Menschen getrieben? Ich mag diese "wilden" Tiere nicht in der Stadt. Hier fressen diese Füchse sogar kleine Hunde.
DeleteIch finde das auch nicht gut. Ich glaube sie kommen zu leicht am abfallreste und lernen dann dass es in der Stadt was zu fressen gibt
DeleteJa und dann stellen sie Ansprüche und fressen alles, was so rumläuft. Hin und wieder greifen sie dann Menschen an.
