Honeycakes/Honigkuchen

For our main lesson on Ancient Egypt, Flora baked honey cakes today.  Veronika helped her.  We used a recipe from the book Passport to the Past: Ancient Egypt.  They have lots of honey, but also quite a bit of salt and caraway seeds.     

Für unsere Studien des alten Ägypten hat Flora heute Honigkuchen gebacken.  Veronika hat ihr geholfen.  Man benutzt viel Honig, aber auch viel Salz und Kümmel.  

Then there was ballet in the afternoon.  Am Nachmittag gab es Ballett.

Auf dem Weg zum Ballettstudio während ich im Auto gesessen haben und Englisch und Latein korrigiert habe.  

From the car I could see some pretty trees.

Vom Auto aus konnte ich hübsche Bäume sehen.

Here we are driving home: There were a lot of seagulls in the freshly plowed fields.

Hier fahren wir nach Hause: Auf den frisch gepflügten Äckern gab es viele Möwen.

And the goldfinches are turning golden.
