We had beautiful October weather today. We went to Mass this morning, Jonathan and Miriam were altar servers, Charlotte and Veronika cantors, and Peter played the organ. We also lit a candle and prayed for my mother. Then we had lunch at our college's cafeteria. For the afternoon, I had baked apple bread from a recipe Charlotte had brought home with her. They handed it out in her cafeteria. After teatime, Charlotte had to go back to college. Peter, Veronika, and Miriam drove her back. Jonathan, Flora, and I went for a walk in Keeney Swamp.
So schönes Oktoberwetter gab es heute! Heute morgen haben wir die heilige Messe gefeiert. Jonathan und Miriam waren Meßdiener, Veronika und Charlotte Vorsängerinnen und Peter hat Orgel gespielt. Wir haben auch eine Kerze für meine Mutter angezündet und für sie gebetet. Zum Mittagessen waren wir in der Mensa. Zum Kaffeetrinken gab es Apfelbrot. Charlotte hatte ein Rezept von ihrer Mensa mit nach Hause gebracht. Sie haben dieses Brot dort gebacken und das Rezept an die Studenten verteilt. Darauf mußte Charlotte schon wieder zur Uni zurück, weil ihre Ferien zu Ende waren. Peter, Veronika und Miriam haben sie zurückgefahren. Jonathan, Flora und ich sind in einem Sumpf spazieren gegangen.

Heute abend haben wir den Rosenkranz gebetet und der Kanonisierung der neusten Heiligen zugeschaut.
What a lovely day, Eva, and what a beautiful walk. Flora's flowers for Kai look like Queen Anne's Lace . . are they? And her jacket looks familiar to me . . ! I actually have a few items I've been wanting to put into a box for you. I was going to take a picture first, so you could tell me if you thought they would be useful. However, I've run out of time as Greg and I leave for Florida in the morning. I'll have to do this when we return. I've been listening to a little bit of the canonization as I write. The singing is very soothing and peaceful. The apple bread looks delicious, and how fun to sight the sharp shinned hawk (that's a funny name!) Thank you for the update on your mom. It's good the coma could be weakened and your father felt movement from her. I hope the fever lessens. I'm thinking of you and praying for her . . sending you love on this Tuesday.
ReplyDeleteSome of her flowers were! She picked several different kinds, including some funny looking grasses. I was surprised that they were still blooming. Ours have died long ago. Yes, it is your jacket. Miriam wore it and now Flora. It is a wonderful jacket. If your things are Flora's size, we can probably use them. She wears a 10 or sometimes 8. Miriam is quite tall and Veronika has a different built than the other girls, but Flora is quite small and thin. Thanks so much for thinking of us! Oh, how long will you be in Florida? Visiting relatives? I thought most of the music during the canonization and Mass was very beautiful. I wonder where the hawk got its name. My mom's fever is about the same, but they don't worry about it. They put her in some kind of cooling suit to make her more comfortable. We prayed another rosary with Charlotte via Google Hangouts last night. Thanks so much for your prayers and your love.
DeleteEin toller Herbst, ein schöner Spaziergang. Sobald unser Garten wieder gemacht ist, bekommt Aaron ein neues Beet auf seinem Grab, darauf freut sich Mumpel schon sehr. Sie möchte im Frühjahr auch Blumen für ihn pflücken.
ReplyDeleteDas ist aber schön, daß Mumpel das auch tut. Flora bringt Kai jeden Tag eine Blume und sonntags zündet sie eine Kerze für ihn in der Kirche an.
DeleteWir haben auch eine Extra-Kerze für Aaron und es ist Mumpel absolut wichtig dass sie bald wieder sein Grab machen kann. Das ging ja in letzter Zeit gar nicht wegen der Baustelle im Garten deshalb haben wir sie hier drin angezündet. Ich glaube die Kinder brauchen da auch. Süß, dass Flora ihm jeden Tag eine Blume bringt, so wünscht sich Mumpel das auch.
DeleteDas ist schön, daß sie so für ihn auch nach seinem Leben sorgt! Das prägt ungemein und ist auch für das Leben und das Erfahren der Endlichkeit (und des Weiterlebens nach dem Tode) sehr wichtig.

ReplyDeleteJonathan hat diesen Sperber mit Adleraugen gefunden. Er wollte gerade den Tank seines Autos füllen und hat nach oben geguckt! Wir hatten wirklich einen schönen Nachmittag zusammen.
