Naturhistorisches Museum

Today was another museum day, but only a short one.  We did our regular homeschool routine in the morning (well, Peter taught his students), but after lunch, I had a dentist's appointment (I have lost a filling).  Peter met us in South Kensington and took the girls to the Natural History Museum.  I went on to see my dentist.  He told me that he thought he knew which tooth was bothering me.  It was a tooth he had mentioned to me two years ago when he had predicted that the filling would fall out sometime soon.  And, amazingly, he was correct.  It was exactly that tooth!  Anyway, we had a nice chat (in German, he is a German dentist), not just about teeth.  I have to go back in two weeks to get an inlay.  After the dentist, I joined the others in the Natural History Museum.  Even if you don't care about animals and such, the building itself is worthwhile a visit.  Then we rushed home (only Peter went to the British Library to work) and had a quick dinner.  Flora is not feeling well (a cold) and had a quiet evening with me, while the three other girls left again to see the ballet "Don Quixote."  Jonathan and Charlotte had already seen it, but there were some more cheap tickets and so Charlotte invited Miriam and Veronika to see it with her.  Peter will meet the three after the performance and come back home with them.  He is at the British Library attending a lecture on translation.

Heute war noch ein Museumstag, aber nur ein kurzer.  Morgens haben wir die üblichen Schulfächer gemacht (Peter hat seine Studenten unterrichtet), aber nach dem Mittagessen ging es in die Stadt.  Ich mußte zum Zahnarzt (ich hatte eine Füllung verloren).  Peter hat uns in South Kensington getroffen und ist mit den Mädchen zum Naturhistorischen Museum gegangen.  Ich bin mit der U-Bahn weiter zum Zahnarzt gefahren.  Der Zahnarzt hat sich noch an mich erinnert und nicht nur das, er hatte sogar schon so seine Vermutungen, welcher Zahn mir Sorge bereiten würde.  Vor zwei Jahren hat er mir schon gesagt, daß da ein Zahn mit einer schlechten Füllung wäre.  Genau diese Füllung ist jetzt herausgefallen.  In zwei Wochen bekomme ich da jetzt ein Inlay.  Nach der Behandlung bin ich auch zum Naturhistorischen Museum gefahren, wo ich die anderen getroffen habe.  Auch wenn man sich nicht für Tiere und ähnliche Dinge interessiert, ist das Gebäude an sich beeindruckend.  Dann ging es nach Hause (Peter ist in die Britische Bibliothek gegangen), wo wir ein kurzes Abendbrot hatten.  Flora fühlt sich nicht so gut, weil sie eine Erkältung hat, aber die anderen drei Mädchen haben sich umgezogen, um ins Ballett "Don Quixote" zu gehen.  Charlotte war schon zusammen mit Jonathan dort, aber heute gab es nochmal billige Karten und die anderen beiden Mädchen wollten es auch gerne sehen.  Also hat Charlotte sie eingeladen.  Nach dem Ballett treffen sie sich mit Peter, der bei einem Vortrag über Übersetzungen in der Britischen Bibliothek ist.  

On Monday, Miriam and Veronika went to the Imperial War Museum with Peter and the students.  Charlotte took a ballet class during that time.

Am Montag waren Miriam und Veronika mit Peter und seinen Studenten im Imperial War Museum (Kaiserliches Kriegsmuseum), Charlotte hat an einer Ballettstunde teilgenommen.
