Busy and Sick/Sehr beschäftigt und krank

The first week of a new semester always brings lots of work, changes, interruptions, etc.  We have not started our new school year, because it never works to start the semester and the school year at the same time.  Ballet and art do not start until next week, but Flora is already doing two acting classes at the Academy and will continue with her violin lessons tomorrow.  Unfortunately, I came down with a virus yesterday and felt so bad that I had to cancle my German 101 class today.  Not ideal!  I hope to be back here soon.

  1. Hope you are soon feeling much better Eva as you certainly have had a rough sickness ride of late. Thinking of you and praying that all will be well xx

    1. Ah, thanks so much, San. I am still resting, but at least not sleeping all day long. First the awful food poisoning and now this flu. I don't need this right now! Thanks for your prayers and good wishes.

    2. Thanks so much, San, and thanks for your sweet e-mails. I think we are all improving, but it is a slow process.

  3. Ah, Eva. I'm sorry it was such a rough start! It's funny, you would think things are so much easier as the children are older, but I find I tire more often and more quickly and so things don't feel easier! Though I think they really are . .

    1. So true! I also have a harder time to bounce back.

    2. Yes, it takes much longer. I have a dental appointment tomorrow to have a cavity filled and I know my mouth will be tender for awhile.

    3. Ah, good luck with that! You know, my "tooth pain" has never gone away. I have had it for two years and a TMJ specialist finally told me that the joint is inflamed and the muscles/tendons are all sprained. There was never anything wrong with my teeth and I had two pulled! The first treatment back in London must have caused the "injury" and all new treatments focusing on the teeth made it worse. It is sad that no dentists were able to look beyond "teeth." Now I am doing some exercises, but so far they have not done the trick.

    4. I'm sorry Eva. My sister once had trouble when having wisdom teeth out and the oral surgeon nicked a nerve and her way of speaking was affected . . her speech is much better these days so I'm hoping you will find healing as time goes by also. My gums are feeling sore today and I'm not sure why, as they were fine last night. When I looked in the mirror today, I noticed that the area my dentist filled was an area she wasn't concerned about in the past . . it was considered just a discoloring around the gum line. I feel disappointed that she didn't point out to me that she was was fixing this area. When she first mentioned she would be filling cavities a few months ago, I had asked her to show me the area but she said I couldn't see it because it was so small and was between teeth in the canines, so now I feel confused about the work she did yesterday and probably won't ask her until my check up and cleaning in November. I agree with you that I wish dentists could look more holistically at our oral hygiene. My dentist recently let go the hygienist I really liked and has someone new. I'm not as comfortable with this person. I'd actually like to find the original hygienist but I don't know her last name and feel funny asking. One is supposed to stick with the dentist and not the hygienist and in the past I've never had a problem with this dentist!!! Ugh! So hard to know the path to follow . . what to do. I wish you good healing for your teeth xoxoxoxo

    5. Oh, how awful for your sister! And your dentist did something you did not know about? That is not right. I am getting more and more frustrated with dentists. They seem to be doing whatever they like and take lots of money for it. And I know what you mean about hygienists! I think my teeth are fine, but my tendons and muscles are not, and a dentist does not care about those . . .

    6. Yes, that's true. It's frustrating. There's a lot of self care we have to do. Holistic help from western doctors is difficult to come by.

    7. True. I always think the doctors should truly care for you and your health, but it is not the case anymore.
