Nature/Natur

Our driveway has been visited by a flock of bluebirds.  They are very difficult to photograph; I did the best I could.

Unsere Einfahrt wird im Moment von Hüttensängern besucht.  Man kann sie schlecht fotografieren, aber hier sind ein paar Fotos.

We had another Home Ecology class today.  We learned all about different maples and aspen.
Heute hatten wir wieder eine Naturkundeklasse.  Es ging um unterschiedliche Ahornarten und Espen.

They had a marvelous display about hickories.
Sie hatten dort eine tollen Tisch über Hickorys.

Man konnte auch die Nüsse probieren.

We had to identify and sort leaves.
Wir mußten Blätter identifizieren und sortieren.

Then we headed outside to look at maples, oaks, and aspen outside.
Dann haben wir draußen Ahornbäume, Eichen und Espen gesucht.

This is a chestnut oak.
Das hier ist eine Kastanien-Eiche.

  1. Those Bluebirds look to be really cute and they were the main focus of the Vera Lynn Song, 'White Cliffs of Dover.' Of course here in Britain we don't get bluebirds so it was lovely to see what they looked like.

Your nature field trip looked to be an afternoon well spent and I loved hearing you chatting in German whilst one of the girls filmed the footage. Unless it was Veronika driving and you were filming? 😊 xx

    1. They are very pretty and you normally don't get to see them a lot. Ah, I know the song.

No, no I was driving because we were in a hurry to get back to get ready for ballet. And Letchworth Park and the area around it is not a place where a person who is learning to drive, should attempt to drive. There are many steep hills and lots of curves (we did not film that part).

    1. Yes, I had never seen so many (let's say at least 50) together.
