Sunday/Sonntag

We had breakfast at 6:45 a.m. and went to Mass at 8:00 a.m. at this church.

I took this picture after the people had left.

Then we drove on to find Miriam, who had gone to church to the vigil Mass the day before.

We got some coffee at this café before finding her.

Moving out
Auszug

We had met Miriam's roommate Nancy the day before, but she was already on her way home to Ohio when we arrived after church on Sunday.

This is the dining-hall where we visited with another of Miriam's professors.  He got his undergraduate degree from our college, i.e., the college where Peter and I are teaching.  We had a great time together.

Flowers left over from graduation
Blumen, die von der Abschlußfeier übrig waren.

Not a freshman anymore, but a sophomore!

After loading the car and saying good-bye to her friends, we all drove back to NY.  It is an 8 1/2 hour drive and we arrived shortly before midnight.

Crossing the Hudson again
Wir fahren wieder über den Hudson.

We then took the northern route (because it is easier to drive there in the dark), along the Mohawk River.

  1. Glad you had a fun visit, and the church is lovely (so pretty with the white walls and vaulted white ceiling). Miriam is a sophomore! These college years are going by quickly for us older folks. It didn't feel that way when I was young, thank goodness :)

    1. It was so good to meet some of her friends and professors :). It was a pretty church. Peter had picked it for Sunday Mass. Yes, time goes by so fast. Charlotte is done with her degree, Miriam is a Sophomore, Veronika is almost done with her grade 11, Jonathan is half-way done with his dual degree, and Flora will be in 8th grade! No, when you are young, life seems to be never-ending!

    3. And now we get nostalgic thinking about that.
