The art show of our local art teacher is coming up and Flora finished another of her pictures today. This one is in charcoal and is a picture of Kai, one of our cats, who passed away several years ago. I could not get a perfect picture, the black is a bit darker in the photo than in reality, but I think she really captured Kai's looks.
Unsere Kunstlehrerin veranstaltet bald wieder ihre alljährliche Kunstausstellung und Flora hat heute ihr Bild von Kai, eine Kohlezeichnung, fertig gemalt. Kai ist vor einigen Jahren gestorben, aber Flora hat ihn hier sehr gut dargestellt. Leider hat mein Fotoapparat die Farbtöne ein wenig dunkler als in Wirklichkeit gemacht.

Both, Charlotte and Jonathan, have one more day of exams/papers/presentations left. Then we will all meet at Charlotte's graduation on Friday and Saturday.
Charlotte und Jonathan haben beide morgen noch Prüfungen/Referate/Hausarbeiten, aber dann treffen wir uns Freitag und Samstag für Charlottes Bachelorabschlußverleihung.
Veronika and I have started watching The Hidden Life of Trees (paid link). It is fascinating to watch.

What are we reading? Flora is reading Anne of Green Gables and I am reading Where Valor Lies to her. I remember quite well when I read that book to Jonathan 😄.
Was lesen wir im Moment? Flora liest Anne auf Green Gables (auf Englisch) selbst, und ich lese ihr ein Buch, das während der Kreuzzüge spielt, vor. Ich weiß noch genau, wie ich dieses Buch mit Jonathan gelesen habe 😄.

Veronika liest im Moment Persönliche Erinnerungen an Jeanne d’Arc von Mark Twain auf Englisch und gestern haben wir zusammen Der Verbrecher aus verlorener Ehre zu Ende gelesen.

Danke, ich bin auch immer wieder erstaunt, was diese Kunstlehrerin den Kindern beibringt. Die beiden sind endlich fertig! Noten haben sie noch nicht, aber ihren B.F.A. bekommt Charlotte morgen.

ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful links, Eva. Greg has read The Hidden Life of Trees, but neither of us has seen the movie, and reading Mark Twain's Joan of Arc has been on my list, but I haven't yet (though I can reserve it at my library).

This was her first charcoal attempt :). I am glad you like my links. Veronika is enjoying the book. It is somewhat different from other books by Mark Twain. And the movie is interesting. I like to see Wohlleben in "real life." They left the German and used subtitles, except when quoting his book. Jonathan found that close to a "Biergarten" in D.C.
