We left very early this morning to drive to New Hampshire. It was Miriam's last day of the semester and we had to pick her up.
Wir sind sehr früh heute morgen aufgebrochen, um nach New Hampshire zu fahren. Miriams Semester ist heute zuende gegangen und wir mußten sie abholen.

We stopped at the local health food store and had lunch. We knew the health food store has good lunches from our summer stays in Oneonta many years ago.
Wir haben Mittagessen im Bioladen gegessen. Vor vielen Jahren haben wir zweimal einige Zeit im Sommer in Oneonta verbracht und wußten, daß man diesem Laden gut und billig zu Mittag essen kann.

Austerlitz was named so by Martin Van Buren, who adored Napoleon.
Diese Stadt ist von Martin Van Buren, dem 8. Präsidenten der USA, so benannt worden, weil er Napoleon verehrte.
We are finally entering Massachusetts.
Endlich erreichen wir Massachusetts.

Now we are in Berlin.
Jetzt sind wir schon in Berlin.
Around 6 p.m. we are reaching New Hampshire: "Live free or die"!
So gegen 6 Uhr abends waren wir dann endlich in New Hampshire.

Wir fahren die Kearsarge Bergstraße hoch.
We arrived and found Miriam. We had supper in the dining-hall (they had saved us some). We met her literature professor, a friend, and her roomate.
Wir sind endlich angekommen und haben Miriam gefunden. Wir haben in der Mensa gegessen (sie hatten uns Abendbrot aufbewahrt) und Miriams Literaturprofessorin kennengelernt. Miriam hat uns auch ihre Zimmerkollegin und eine andere Freundin vorgestellt.

Lovely photos of your travels Eva (suddenly everything is green again) and Miriam's icon is beautiful! It's amazing to see those textile mills, and the health food store and downtown Oneonta look very nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think Miriam learned a lot in that iconography course! Manchester, NH, tried to become like the Manchester in the U.K. For a while, they had the most cotton mills in this country! That health food store has not changed much during the last twelve years. Kind of funny to think that it has been there all these years. We also passed a sign for Sturbridge and I had to think of you :).
