We had a lovely confirmation weekend. Veronika was confirmed in the same church as Charlotte, but she was confirmed by Bishop Richard and Veronika was confirmed by our new Bishop, Bishop Michael.
Wir hatten eine wirklich schöne Firmung. Veronika ist in derselben Kirche wie Charlotte gefirmt worden, doch jetzt haben wir einen neuen Bischof, Bischof Michael (Charlotte ist von Bischof Richard gefirmt worden).
Charlotte was Veronika's sponsor.
Charlotte war Veronikas Firmpatin.
"Cecilia, be sealed with the Holy Spirit." Veronika's confirmation name was "Cecilia" and the bishop thought she must be a musician (she is our cantor).
„Cäcilia, Sei besiegelt durch die Gabe Gottes, den Heiligen Geist.“ ("Cäcilia" ist Veronikas Firmname und der Bischof hat gleich angemerkt, daß sie wohl Musik gern haben müßte (Veronika ist ja unsere Vorsängerin in der Kirche).
Our new pastor, Father John is on the left, next to Bishop Michael. Next to him is Father Séan, the new Master of Ceremonies of our diocese.
Unser neuer Pfarrer, Pfarrer John, steht links von Bischof Michael. Neben ihm befindet sich Pfarrer Séan, der neue Zeremoniar unseres Bistums.

And then we visited the grave of Father Jann, who has baptized Veronika (please excuse the wrong Latin!). The girls put the flower there.
Anschließend haben wir noch das Grab von Pfarrer Jann besucht, der Veronika getauft hat (das falsche Latein muß man übersehen). Die Mädchen haben die Blume hingelegt.

Zum Abendbrot gab es Tiefkühlpizza.

Veronika hatte sich ein eigenes Gotteslob (Paderborner Anhang, mit dem ich augewachsen bin) gewünscht und ich habe ihr dafür eine Hülle aus Filz genäht.

Das war ja eine wunderschöne Firmung. Meine Jungs haben den YouCat auf Englisch, weil sie in einer englischsprachigen Kirche gefirmt wurden. Aber es kamen viele Erinnerungen hoch bei den Fotos. Danke. Und herzlichen Glückwunsch an Veronika.
ReplyDeleteEs war sehr schön und der neue Bischof war sehr nett (wir hatten ihn noch nicht kennengelernt). Wir haben die Kinderausgabe von dem Youcat auf Englisch, aber Veronika hat sich eine deutsche Ausgabe gewünscht. Er ist ansprechend gemacht, finde ich. Oh, wie schön, daß Dir die Bilder gefallen haben. Ich finde solche Feste immer sehr bewegend. Veronika hat sich über die Glückwünsche gefreut. Sie bedankt sich!
DeleteEs sah auch alles sehr schön aus. Und ich kann mir denken, dass Veronika dann gerne den deutschen YouCat wollte. Unsere Jungs hatten ja genug deutschen "Input", da war es ihnen nicht so wichtig, Bücher in beiden Sprachen zu haben.
Delete:). Ich glaube, daß der englische auch eine Übersetzung aus dem Deutschen ist. Deshalb wollte sie auch lieber das Original haben.

All the girls looked beautiful but Veronika looks especially beautiful in her red dress. I’m sorry not to have been checking by on a regular basis but I’m dealing with constant additional problems relating to Long COVID so life is more strange than usual around here 🤪. We were lucky to have Charlotte close enough to make her sponsor role possible. It was too bad Jonathan and Miriam could not be with us. We bought that dress especially for the confirmation and it does fit well :). I was wondering how you were doing, but I thought you might needed a break from the online world. No relief from the long Covid symptoms? That is too bad. I do hope there will be a light at the end of the tunnel soon.
