New Game/Neues Spiel

The girls tried a new game from the library today: House of Danger (paid link).  It was lots of fun.

Heute haben die Mädchen ein neues Spiel von der Bücherei gespielt.  Es scheint großen Spaß gemacht zu haben.

Veronika left at 6:45 a.m. to get to her custodial job.  Miriam has a baby-sitting job this week and is taking a break from custodial.  Charlotte helped chauffeuring Flora to her art class.  We had two guys from Home Depot here again, who were going to install the new dishwasher.  Alas, it turns out that the kitchen floor is too high to get the old one out.  Now we have to get somebody to take out the floor first and then call Home Depot back so they can finally install the new dishwasher.  What a disappointment!  Our neighbor came by and brought us a water bill from December.  Apparently, they had sent it to London, but it got sent back here and somehow the water works could not get it into out mailbox, but kept sending it to the wrong places.  So our neighbor thought it would be easiest to come by and hand it to us personally (he is also the town clerk).  Some other friend came by and paid Flora for her weeding efforts.  I had a chat with him (he is a retired psychology professor).  Peter is in Ohio right now, attending a conference.  It is quite hot here right now and we want to go swimming in the nearby lake tomorrow.  We have to wait for the girls to get off work, though.  I guess this is it for tonight!

Veronika ist um 6.45 Uhr aus dem Haus gegangen, weil ihre Putzarbeit so früh anfängt.  Miriam macht diese Woche Babysitting und muß nicht putzen.  Charlotte hat mir geholfen, Flora zum Kunstkurs zu fahren.  Heute waren wieder zwei Handwerrker hier, die die Spülmaschine anschließen sollten, aber jetzt muß erst der Fußboden rausgenommen werden, weil er zu hoch ist.  Sie konnten die alte Spülmaschine nicht entfernen.  Also müssen wir einen anderen Handwerker kommen lassen.  Das war eine große Enttäuschung.  Unser Nachbar ist heute abend vorbeigekommen und hat uns eine Wasserrechnung gebracht, die uns nach London nachgeschickt worden war, aber uns irgendwie nicht erreicht hat.  Sie ist wieder nach hier geschickt worden, aber hat nie den Weg in unseren Briefkasten gefunden.  Jetzt hat er sie persönlich vorbeigebracht, da er nicht nur der Nachbar ist, sondern auch der Stadtschreiber.  Sie stammt noch vom Dezember!  Ein anderer Freund ist vorbeigekommen und hat Flora für ihr Unkrautjäten bezahlt.  Er ist ein pensionierter Psychologieprofessor und wir kennen uns gut.  Peter ist im Moment in Ohio bei einer Konferenz.  Es ist ziemlich heiß hier und daher wollen wir morgen zum Badesee fahren!  Wir müssen aber warten, bis die Mädchen mit Arbeiten fertig sind.  Das war's für heute abend!
