Das war vor der Messe.
Yesterday, we celebrated Ellie's and Alex's wedding. Father Dennis married them and Peter was the cantor. Ellie and Alex were students of our college and also go to our church.
Gestern haben wir Ellies und Alex' Hochzeit gefeiert. Unser Pfarrer hat die beiden getraut und Peter war der Vorsänger. Ellie und Alex waren bei unserem College Studenten und sind auch in unsere Kirche gegangen.
This was after most the people had left.
Hier sind fast alle Leute schon wieder weg.
The reception was held at this old farmhouse.
Der Empfang war bei diesem alten Bauernhaus.
We had dinner in this tent: The parents of Alex and Ellie had cooked for all people, about 170!
Wir haben hier draußen gegessen: Die Eltern von Alex und Ellie hatten für alle Gäste, ca. 170, gekocht!

How lovely and I do love a home made wedding where folk pitch in, it reminds me of Sara and Tom’s special day ❤️ Weddings can be obscenely expensive which is totally unnecessary in my eyes. You all look really lovely xx
ReplyDeleteSo true! They get so expensive, especially in this country with the "bridal party," a custom we do not have in Germany. It was so nice to know that everybody contributed to made the day special. And Sara and Tom also had such a special celebration.

ReplyDeleteIt is somewhat strange to see your students getting married. Then you do feel much older. The bride and bridegroom were a beautiful couple. I think the food preparation were a family affair. They cooked pulled pork, had salads, macaroni and cheese casserole, buns (those were bought), and then ice cream and chocolates and tea/coffee. There was water and sparkling cider to drink. How nice that your parents cooked your wedding!
