Saturday was another museum's day. This time for Juneteenth (they celebrated it early.) Whenever we drive to the museum, we cross my "favorite" road: Telephone Road.
They had set up an interesting timeline around the Great Meadow.
There were actors and singers.
Es gab Schauspieler und Sänger.

We learned about Fannie Barrier Williams from Brockport, NY.

Flora took this picture of me while we were waiting for the girls to finish work. Once the museum closes, we always stay 30 to 60 minutes longer and have the museum almost all to ourselves. It takes them that long to clean and return their costumes.
I had taken a book (paid link) by Karen Glass about classical and Charlotte Mason education along.
Ich habe ein Buch über Homeschooling mitgehabt.

When we came back through Geneseo, we discovered that a microburst had gone through the other day when we had a tornado watch. Many trees had fallen onto the graves in the cemetery.
A lovely celebration at the museum. The trees that were knocked down were quite large, and look old.
ReplyDeleteDid you write this comment truly in the middle of the night? It was nice, the first time they had ever done it. It was a bit disorganized, but all the interpreters were very enthusiastic. They are all not regular staff members and had to learn their way around. I wonder how many graves got ruined. It looked quite bad. It is amazing that none of the old villas nearby got damaged.
DeleteHello! Yes, I must have written it that late! Morgana just came in now (11:21pm 6-17-23) and told me to get some sleep as we're driving to Montauk tomorrow. So funny :) (Yes, I often have stayed up much too late but am trying to do better.) Today I wanted to read again about the Juneteenth celebration events. The singing is so beautiful and moving. It makes me happy and sad all at once. I would love to attend events at Sturbridge if they have them now.
ReplyDeleteGood that Morgana is looking out for you! I checked and Sturbridge had special events today.
