Dentist (Again)/Zahnarzt (wieder)

The dishwasher delivery truck came early this morning.  When the two men wanted to install the new dishwasher, they discovered that our pipes were too old for a modern dishwasher (the one we have right now is over 20 years old).  So they told us they had to get their plumber to change the pipes and then the dishwasher could be installed.  They put it in the garage and now we are waiting for the plumber to come out.  That was a big disappointment!  But I was lucky to get a dentist appointment in East Aurora for today.  It is almost impossible to find dentists in our county because most of the dentists have retired.  The ones that are still working have so many patients that you have to wait over a month for an appointment.  Over the last few days I had contacted several offices, but most of them could not fit me in quickly for real dental work.  However, I was lucky to find a dentist in East Aurora who had an opening today because somebody else had canceled.  Of course, I took that appointment and since the dishwasher did not work out, we all drove up north.  While I spent an hour at the dentist for a filling, the girls had a nice time with their father.  After the appointment, we looked at some plants and bought a few things at the co-op.

  1. Dear Eva, sorry to read that you are having dental hassles, it seems to have been ongoing for some time. Sending hugs to you and I hope the new dishwasher is quickly installed

    1. It is very annoying. I have always good teeth (although not pretty ones). When I went to the teeth cleaning in London I had no pain and did not think anything was wrong and then they told me I needed all this work. The sad thing is that they missed a large cavity (only visible on x-rays), which was filled on Tuesday. All those new fillings are very close to the nerve and that is why there is pain. That is also the reason that those two teeth might still need root canals if the pain does not die down. I have to wait one month to see if the pain lingers or goes away. If it is still there, a treatment with root canals would cost thousands of dollars. I am taking ibuprofen now and just hope that in a month my teeth will be happy. The dishwasher will take a while. The plumber cannot come so soon. He will come in the middle of June. Then we will have to wait another week to have the installment people to come back.

  2. Love all those plants! I hope you are feeling better now that your cavity is filled. Good luck with the pipes! What a hassle!

(I wonder how the bananas' appearance may change?!)

    1. It is a lovely store. We have bought Charlotte plants there for her last birthday. Unfortunately, one plant died while we were in London. We thought we would find the same kind, but we did not.

Update on teeth and dishwasher is under my reply to San.

    2. Maybe the bananas will get brown and overripe? I thought it was interesting that they talked about "steamships."

    3. Ha ha, yes . . I didn't even pick up on the steamships, but you're right, that's very interesting! :)

Eva, I can empathize about the cavities and concern about root canals. I've had several in the last ten years because of neglected cavities. I also found that it can really take awhile for the sensitivity in my mouth to go away after all the drilling, sometimes even longer than a month. So give yourself some time and I hope you feel better.

    4. Maybe they do use steamships!

It is just so annoying, especially because I have been to five dentists by now! Each one added a bit to the puzzle, but it is so complicated and expensive. Yes, I know that it takes a while for things to calm down, but it had been over two months since the work in London and I was still in pain and in the end living on pain killers because it was so bad. I think it is getting better now, at least I am hopeful.

I did not know you had root canals! I know that Americans do root canals much faster than Europeans. Although the dentists around here seem to be very hesitant about doing them also.

  3. I really hope the pain does settle 😕. Dave has problems with a tooth that either needs a root canal £750.00 or for it to be pulled but when he had discomfort he read an article that recommended Padma basic which is a capsule containing anti microbial herbs amongst other things. They did do the trick and eased the pain but I think he has decided to have the tooth removed as it’s near the back of his mouth x

    1. Poor Dave! I think it is smart to have that tooth pulled because it is cheaper than a root canal and the back teeth are not that important. When we were driving to the airport in London, there was a news report on the radio that there is a shortage of dentists in England. Have you noticed that?
