Dress Rehearsal/Generalprobe

Finally, there is some time to sit down and look through all the dance pictures and videos.  I will start with the dress rehearsal on Thursday and post the pictures of the two performances later.  

Endlich finde ich Zeit, durch all die Tanzfotos und Tanzvideos zu gucken.  Ich fange mit der Generalprobe am Donnerstag an und werde die Fotos von den zwei Vorführungen später hochladen.  

There was still some snow on the ground when we drove to the rehearsal.

Es lag noch Schnee, als wir zur Generalprobe gefahren sind.

We had to transport a lot of costumes.  Jonathan and Charlotte had taken Jonathan's car and gone earlier to have some practice time.

Wir mußten viele Kostüme transportieren.  Jonathan und Charlotte waren schon früher gefahren, um alleine üben zu können.

When we got there, Jonathan and Charlotte were already practicing.

Als wir ankamen, waren Jonathan und Charlotte schon da und übten.

Then it was time to put some markings on the floor.

Dann mußten Markierungen am Boden angebracht werden.

Here, they are practicing the spacing for the last dance.

Hier üben sie, wo die Tänzer und Tänzerinnen bei dem letzten Tanz ihre Plätze haben.

Charlotte is coming out of the toy box: The performance was not the Nutcracker proper, but combined parts of the Nutcracker with an original story and narrator.

Charlotte kommt aus einer Spielzeugkiste: Die Aufführung war nicht der echte Nußknacker, sondern eine Kombination von dem Ballet und einer neuen Geschichte mit einem Erzähler.

After the run-through, there were notes by the ballet teacher.

Nach dem Durchgang hat die Ballettlehrerin noch Anweisungen und Hinweise gegeben.

It was dark when we were finally done.

Es war schon dunkel, als wir fertig waren.
