When we got home we had a salad with pork and root vegetables. I had put them into the slow cooker this morning and it was wonderful to have them done when we got home.
Zu Hause angekommen haben wir Salat mit einem Schweinefleischtopf gegessen. Das Fleisch und das Wurzelgemüse haben den ganzen Tag alleine im Schongarer gekocht. Heute morgen habe ich alles zusammengestellt und dann war das Essen heute abend fertig. Wunderbar!

DeleteThey stopped in Indiana at Peter's parents, then in Lincoln, and then drove straight through to Denver. A lot of driving in such a short time!
Those reflector ovens must have been a staple in many American families at one point.
How interesting to think that reflector ovens were once a staple! I miss my slow cooker . . before Bed, Bath and Beyond closed I thought of getting one of those Multi pots on sale . . but missed the chance. How nice to visit Peter's parents along the way ! xoxo
DeleteAh, so you do not have a slow cooker anymore? I am making chicken stock in mine right now. I love it for that. Yes, it will be nice to see them and his siblings.

ReplyDeleteDiese Metallkästen stellt man direkt an ein offenes Feuer. Sie werden dann heiß (die Hitze vom Feuer wird von den Seiten des Ofens auf das Backgut reflektiert) und man kann gut Kekse oder kleine Kuchen darin backen, aber man muß natürlich dabei sein, sonst brennt alles an. Man kann sie auch heute noch zum Camping kaufen.
