Leo ist ein Jahr alt geworden und Peter und ich haben unseren 28. deutschen Hochzeitstag gefeiert. Hier sind ein paar Fotos von Leo, die Flora gemacht hat.

To celebrate our wedding anniversary, the girls and I went to the Lavender Festival. Peter is still attending his conference, but called and has given me a beautiful necklace. He also asked the girls to buy flowers from him for me.
Um unseren Hochzeitstag zu feiern, bin ich mit den Mädchen zum Lavendelfest gefahren. Peter ist immer noch in Ohio bei seiner Konferenz, aber er hat natürlich angerufen und mir eine schöne Kette geschenkt. Er hat auch den Mädchen gesagt, sie sollten in seinem Namen Blumen für mich kaufen.

We stopped at a new gluten free café and shared a lavender cup cake.
Es gibt ein neues glutenfreies Café, wo wir dieses Küchlein gegessen haben.
They had bills from Asian countries on their tables.

Then we took the Southern Tier Express Way all the way to Hornell to do the grocery shopping, but I did not take any more pictures.
Dann sind wir auf der Schnellstraße bis nach Hornell gefahren, um Lebensmittel für die Woche einzukaufen, doch habe ich das nicht mehr fotografiert.
Today, on Sunday, Veronika and Charlotte were the cantors and sang a cappella. They did a great job and the congregation clapped at the end of Mass.
Heute, am Sonntag, haben Veronika und Charlotte als Vorsängerin ohne Orgel gesungen. Sie haben ihre Sache sehr gut gemacht und die Gemeinde hat am Ende der Messe für sie geklatscht.
After lunch, I suggested a hike around Moss Lake, but when we got there, it was all closed off because they are rebuilding the wooden walkways. So we drove to Rushford Lake (the dam site) and went hiking there. Only Veronika had to sit on a bench to rest her foot.
Nach dem Mittagessen habe ich eine Wanderung um Moss Lake vorgeschlagen, aber als wir dort ankamen, war alles abgesperrt, weil sie die Bohlenwege neubauen. Also sind wir zum Damm bei Rushford Lake gefahren und dort gewandert. Nur Veronika konnte mit ihrem Fuß nicht mitwandern, aber es gab eine Bank, wo sie sitzen konnte.

Happy German Anniversary 🩷🩷. Your day sounded just lovely despite Peter being away! The gluten free lavender cupcake looked amazing - I will have to find a recipe for one. I’m slightly envious of your sunny weather here it is grey, periodically cold and of course rain, rain and more rain 🙄
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, San! Yes, it was a fun day and I felt loved even from a distance. That cupcake was really good: not too sweet and light and fluffy. The family running the bakery has celiac disease and after traveling all over the world, they have settled down in the area. We are getting lots of sunshine, but also storms. We had two tornados touching down not too far from here yesterday and Charlotte was scheduled to fly to Denver. Amazingly, her flight was not delayed. I am sending you some of our sunshine and warmth.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much! Leo was great with his present. I think Korrina drove through Angelica once, didn't she? I was disappointed that we could not do Moss Lake, but the other hike was also okay.
DeleteOh, you may have a better memory than me. I know she visited Watkin's Glen, but I'm not sure about Angelica. She went on a train trip to Buffalo once, and then a car trip to many small upstate towns.

DeleteI will . . I have it sitting on my piano right now. I have several cards lying around that I would like to frame one day . . finding the proper frame is not always easy, however!
DeleteOh, it is a nightmare to find good frames! Either they have the wrong size, or you cannot hang them, or they are so expensive that you give up.

ReplyDeleteGanz lieben Dank, Angelika! Das ist ein künstlicher See. Er wird jeden Herbst abgelassen und jedes Frühjahr neu gefüllt! Man kann sogar an einigen Stellen die Mauern des Dorfes sehen, das da mal gestanden hat.
DeleteAch das ist ja interessant! Warum wird das gemacht? Warum lassen sie nicht einfach den See so wie er ist?
DeleteIch weiß nicht, warum sie das machen. Es könnte sein, daß im Winter der Druck auf den Damm zu groß wird (weil das Wasser dann friert) und der Damm brechen könnte. Der Damm muß nämlich dringend repariert werden.
DeleteAch so das macht natürlich Sinn. Das ist ja ganz schön viel Arbeit nehme ich an. Aber ist auch egal hauptsache Ihr könnt den See im Sommer nutzen!
DeleteStimmt! Viele Leute aus Buffalo haben sich schöne Ferienhäuschen am See gebaut und kommen dann immer.
