Progress/Fortschritt

Jonathan and our neighbor are making progress with the roof.  Tonight, they had finished half of the roof.  They worked, in spite of the 90 degrees, almost all day long.

Jonathan und unser Nachbar haben gute Fortschritte gemacht.  Heute abend war die Hälfte des Daches fertig.  Sie haben trotz der 32 Grad fast den ganzen Tag gearbeitet.

We had an even hotter day than yesterday as you can tell by looking at the squirrel.  I wish we could go swimming, but the only public beach around here will stay closed due to Corona.

Heute war es noch heißer als gestern, wie man an dem Eichhörnchen sehen kann.  Ich würde gerne schwimmen gehen, aber der einzige öffentlich Strand hier bleibt wohl wegen Corona geschlossen.

We decided to have our supper outside tonight.  We unfortunately have no furniture to sit on outside, so we always get out a blanket and have a picnic on the lawn.  I baked buttermilk biscuits, made a salad, and we also had lunch meat, fruit, and cheese.

Flora arranged everything buffet style inside.

Some of her many friends had an art lesson today.
Einige ihrer vielen Freunde hatten heute Kunstunterricht.

  1. I always love Flora’s attention to detail and I hope her chums enjoyed the art lesson. That squirrel is hilarious you should submit that photo in a nature competition 🙂. Once again we’ll done Mr J for all your hard work 👍🏻

    1. Yes, she has a good eye for these things and her "friends" truly speak to her, i.e., she notices their moods, if they are comfortable, etc. Maybe I should submit that squirrel. It seems to come everyday, just to stare at us like that. Right now there is a raccoon out there, eating the birdseed. Life is never dull around here.

    2. P.S. Jonathan and Mr. L. are almost finished. They worked all afternoon today.

  2. Super sweet photos of Flora and her table setting! Wow, Jonathon is a stick-with-it sort of guy. You can justifiably be proud of him.

    1. I am so glad to still have a child that can be absorbed by imaginative play. It won't be long and she will be too old for this. Yes, once he gets a task, he does stick to it and people do comment on his work well done. I just wish he would learn to apply this skill to making his bed in the morning. That is a task he tends to forget frequently.

I like your new profile picture!

  3. The roof work is hard, exhausting work. I would imagine Jonathan sleeps extra well these nights, especially with it being so warm. I always find the heat tiring.

Your dinner plans remind me of how my mother would make dinner for us on hot nights when I was little. It sounds very nice and Flora's display is thoughtful and lovely (and her imaginative play is so dear). I'm glad you still enjoy using the napkins.

    That squirrel is interesting!

    1. Yes, he went to bed early each day, especially because our neighbor likes to starte early in the morning. Unfortunately, Jonathan has really bad hay fever right now and can hardly breathe. That makes sleeping hard.

That squirrel is crazy! We have many bold ones, but only that one crazy one.

I am glad that my dinner reminds you of "home." Flora loves to be creative with all her tasks.
