Jonathan and Miriam repaired our screen door yesterday. Before they could do that, though, we hunted all over the house for the charging cable to the drill and the staple gun. I found the charging cable tucked away in one of our many boxes and Veronika found the staple gun; it had slipped behind the bag with fabric scraps in one of our closets.

We have been enjoying some good books recently. One was about John Cash Penney, the founder of the J.C. Penney stores. Another one is The Printer's Apprentice, a historical book about New York City, and the third one is Caius geht ein Licht auf (Mystery of the Roman Ransom, paid link).
Today was a very hot day. I did not work in the yard and also did not wash any windows. but I did work on updating high school ideas in general for our homeschool. Yesterday, I washed our front door, including the window and screen door. Jonathan went to get a hair cut and Peter went grocery shopping, all in the next village. Even the drugstore opened again, but not the library. We have not been going anywhere else.
Veronika and I watched a documentary about the Reformation by Rick Steves.
Miriam painted this pretty picture for me: Charlotte had found the rose in the woods yesterday.
And of course, there was baseball. Und natürlich gab es wieder Baseball.

We lose objects like that also. After the trip cross country in 2017, we couldn't find our hammer for months, and then we finally discovered it in the car. It had never been unpacked.
ReplyDeleteIt must feel very good to have your screen door fixed!
Miriam's drawing if very pretty.
I love watching Rick Steves. I'll have to find time to watch this one :)
Isn't if awful! Whenever you need certain things, they are gone. Funny about your hammer. We have "millions" of cable-like things and whenever I find them, I put them into boxes. I have several "cable" boxes. Alle these new cameras, laptops, phones, etc. come with trillions of cables, chargers, and other "black things." I cannot keep track of them and don't see much difference between them.
DeleteYes, that door was in bad shape. We could not close it anymore. The screen is still not perfect, there is small gap, but it is working again. I am convinced that the long-tailed-animal entered through the broken door last fall and found its way into the garage/basement.
I thought so too that Miriam*s drawing was very pretty. And it is not even Mother's Day or my birthday :).
That Rick Steves one is quite new and a combination of history and sights. It is very well done and shows you both sides of the situation. You should watch it!
We could do with a screen door for our back door, it’s not something that has ever ‘taken off’ in the UK but I can certainly see the value of them. We have had a temporary hiatus in the warm weather, hoping the sun will soon return 🙂
ReplyDeleteSame in Germany, people don't really have screens, but I do have to day that people also don't have nearly as many bugs as you find in this country. You could hardly live without screens here. I should send you some of our hot weather. Today was especially bad and tomorrow is supposed to be 31 degrees!
