Second Departure/Zweite Abreise

Jonathan left today to get back to college.  His classes will start on Monday.  Peter drove down with him to help him move into a new dorm.  He also has a new roommate, a biology student.

Well equipped for the new semester: a German Bible and a new book on philosophy.

Peter sent this picture from Latrobe: Mozart Hall, built by a German.

Charlotte has finished her first three days of classes.  Her roommate and she took the bus to Presque Isle.  All students can use the bus system for free!

And here are some wildlife pictures from our house.

  1. I keep up to date with Charlotte via Instagram and it looks like she is settling in quite well. Hope Jonathan's second year goes well, does the house seem strange without them? Do you manage to video call via an app or Skype? Happy Sunday to you all xx

    1. I think she is doing well, she has not said she is homesick so far. It is Jonathan's third year, he is Junior! Now with two gone, it seems much emptier, but I also have some plans for rearranging the two children's rooms upstairs so that everybody else has more room. This house is really too small for us and all our belongings. We normally write e-mails, I guess we are not the Skype type. We also don't call on the phone. But we do keep in touch.

  2. Wishing Jonathan and Charlotte a wonderful school year! Good luck with your room rearranging. It will probably feel good to do. I can't believe it's Jonathan's third year already!

    1. Thanks so much, I think they have both settled in nicely and have been successful so far. I did finish Charlotte's room, which is now Veronika's. Well, there is plenty of stuff in there that does not belong to the children and Peter has a desk in it, but Veronika is sleeping there now and using Charlotte's desk. I have not had time to do anything about those other two rooms. They look pretty bad. Yes, Jonathan is now more than halfway done with college! Hard to believe. Sometimes I think it was just yesterday that I went to the Notre Dame University lakes and fed the ducks with him almost every afternoon. We would always stop at the grotto there and light a candle for Mary on our way back. I miss those days.
