Last Day of Summer/Letzter Sommertag

It is very warm today, 85 degrees, so perfect for the last day of summer.  There are severe thunderstorms in the forecast, though.  We are supposed to attend a bonfire tonight, but it looks like the fire will turn into an indoor party. 

The goldenrod did not bloom very long this year. 

Die Goldruten haben dieses Jahr nicht lange geblüht.

Es ist heute sehr warm, 30 Gad, also gerade angemessen für den letzten Sommertag.  Es soll heute abend stark gewittern.  Wir sind zu einem Lagerfeuer eingeladen, aber jetzt sieht es so aus, als ob das Feuer in eine Party im Haus verwandelt werden wird.  

Yesterday, I taught my German 103 in the morning because we had a department party at night, my teaching time during this semester.  Before we could go to the party, I had to drive a car full of girls to ballet and turned around right away to pick up Peter and Flora to go to the party.  Peter was my "faculty spouse" and children were invited too, but we only had Flora because the other girls were dancing. 

Gerstern habe ich meinen Deutschkurs morgens unterrichtet, weil wir eine Abteilungsparty abends hatten.   Dieses Semester unterrichte ich normalerweise abends.  Bevor wir zur Party gehen konnten, habe ich eine Fuhre Mädchen zum Ballett gefahren und bin gleich wieder umgedreht, um Peter und Flora für die Party abzuholen.  Peter ist als "Professorenehemann" mitgekommen und Kinder waren auch eingeladen, aber wir hatten nur Flora, da die anderen Mädchen ja beim Tanzen waren.  

The party was out in Amish country, close to this church.  We saw and heard more horse and buggies than cars.

Die Party war in einer Amischgegend.  Dort haben wir mehr Kutschen als Autos gesehen und gehört.
