This morning, we left around 8:00 a.m. to take Leo to the vet. While driving through the countryside, we passed an Amish buggy.
Heute morgen kurz nach 8 sind wir mit Leo zum Tierarzt gefahren. Auf der Fahrt dahin sind wir an einer Amischkutsche vorbeigekommen.
And then we passed another one . . .
Und dann an noch einer . . .
and another
und noch einer
and another
und noch einer
and another
und noch einer
and another.
und noch einer.
They were all heading to two farms.
Sie sind alle zu zwei Bauernhöfen gefahren.
After passing those farms, buggies were coming towards from the other direction.
Nachdem wir an den Bauernhöfen vorbei waren, kamen uns noch mehr Kutschen entgegen.
They kept coming
Es kamen immer mehr
and coming
und mehr
. . .
. . .
. . .
. . .
We think there must have been a wedding or some other big event going on.
Wahrscheinlich gab es eine Hochzeit oder eine andere Großveranstaltung.
We did make it to the vet and Leo was fabulous. He tolerated the car ride well and was friendly at the vet's office.
Wir sind schließlich bei der Tierärztin angekommen. Leo hat sich sehr gut benommen. Er ist gut im Auto gefahren und hat sich gegenüber der Tierärztin und den Helferinnen sehr gut benommen.

Very alert! She was happy with his health and we got some flea/tick medication for the spring.
Sehr aufmerksam! Leo ist sehr gesund und wir haben das Mittel gegen Flöhe und Zecken bekommen.
Back home, we made hot cross buns. The man from the water works also came by and wrote down the size and material of our main water pipe.
Zuhause angekommen haben wir dann "Hot Cross Buns" gemacht. Der Mann vom Wasserwerk war auch da und hat aufgeschrieben, wie dick unser Wasserrohr ist und aus welchem Material es gemacht ist.

Zum Abendbrot habe ich unsere Kerbelsuppe für Gründonnerstag gemacht.
Then it was time for church and we passed the same Amish farms: There were still buggies and people there although it was almost 7:00 p.m.
Dann mußten wir zur Kirche fahren. Es ging wieder an den gleichen Amischbauernhöfen vorbei und es waren immer noch Kutschen dort! Es war schon fast 19.00 Uhr.

Back home we put crosses on our buns.
Zu Hause haben wir dann noch Kreuze auf unsere Brötchen gepinselt.
The buns look delicious, as does the soup . . but how do you find chervil? I've never seen it here. Sending you blessings and love on this Maundy Thursday xoxo
ReplyDeleteOh, I buy dried chervil when in this country. The grocery stores around here used to carry it, but now I have to order it. In Europe you can buy it fresh.

ReplyDeleteI had no idea that we had so many Amish in that area! I always worry that a horse might get hit by a car. We once saw a buggy overturn on that same road. I think the women in the buggy had lost control. We got out of the car and helped the women in it. Some other men also stopped and helped with the horses. Nobody was hurt back then.
