Birthday, etc./Geburtstag usw.

This young lady turned 23 yesterday.  We did not get to see her in person, but we spent some time with her on Google Meet.

We have had some beautiful sunrises.

Flora is learning about mechanics.
Flora beschäftigt sich mit der Mechanik.

Wir haben einen einfachen Hebel gebaut.

Veronika made some Anglo-Saxon oat cakes for her medieval studies.

Today, Flora studies the inclined plane.  It came in handy that among our science things, there is a spring scale.

Then we had a class on leaves at Letchworth.  This is the beautiful scarlet oak.

On the way back home, we saw a blimp.

After a short break at home, we got ready for ballet and saw these balloons.

  1. Happy Birthday to you and Charlotte :) What a beautiful photo of her! I hope she had a lovely day. It was nice you could meet on Google.

What an interesting day you had with seeing the blimp and the hot air balloon (terrific photos!) and identifying the sumac, scarlet oak and witch hazel leaves. And the oat cakes look delicious. Oak cakes are one of my favorite foods. I always buy the Nairns brand at the health food store.

I feel like the autumn colors this year are especially bright with many different hues of red, yellow and gold.

    1. Thanks so much! My first girl :). I think that photo was taken while she was on stage here. She did have a good day and her roommates made it special for her. Also, an older lady from our first church called here to talk to her (they share the birthday) and I gave her Charlotte's phone number. She was Charlotte's sponsor for her confirmation. The lady called Charlotte later on and the two of them had a nice chat.

The girls took those photos because I was driving. It was kind of bizarre to see all those things in one day. The teacher we had for our class, a different one, not the regular one we normally get, was very knowledgeable and taught us many things. Oh, Peter loves Nairn's! He always gets that one in London.

Our leaves are mostly brown or gone by now, but we have had some pretty trees this year. It must be similar for you in the city.
