How NOT to Travel from Pittsburgh to Rochester/Wie man NICHT von Pittsburgh nach Rochester reisen sollte

It is not a good idea to get up at 3:30 a.m. to fly from Pittsburgh to Washington D.C.  Your connecting flight to Rochester might get canceled because the pilot does not show up and they might fly you to Chicago instead, with a different plane and pilot.  In Chicago, you might board a plane, but the pilot might decide that you are sitting in a plane that is not safe and he might refuse to fly.  So you all get off and wonder if there is another plane flying to Rochester on a Sunday.  There eventually be one, but you won't be home until 10:00 p.m.  And the original plan was to be home at 11:30 a.m.!

This is what Peter went through yesterday . . .

Jonathan sent pictures of the St. Vincent College gristmill.  Isn't it impressive?  I think it is still in use!

Today, Flora and I continued with the study of local history.  We are reading about the Seneca tribe.  Our picture book for today was Turtle's Race with Beaver.   She also made a corn cob doll, which is quite common to make among the Iroquois.

    1. It was so crazy! But he is not home, he left this morning at 7:30 a.m. for Rochester to fly to Vienna and Prague! I spent all afternoon yesterday doing laundry and ironing to get his things ready because I knew he would not have time to do much himself and he needed good clothes because he is attending a conference and presenting a paper! I am pretty exhausted myself. We were up well past midnight to get his stuff ready. Jean-Louis, the retired French professor, drove him to the airport this morning.

    3. Kind of, the flight back is on Monday and he won't arrive in Rochester until midnight. Jean-Louis will pick him up again. I am glad I don't have to drive to Rochester at that time!

    1. Flora says "thanks." She wanted to take it to be with her, but I thought that might crush it.

    1. Thanks so much! Our spirits are rising again, we all went to bed early last night. Peter is really tired too, though. He found a Starbucks in Prague and said it was a very fancy one, he had never seen such a fancy one.
