Forest Walk/Waldspaziergang

Beech/Maple tree forest
Mischwald mit Buchen und Ahornbäumen

Today was another ecology class at Letchworth Park.  We went hiking in the forest and stopped often to look and learn.
Heute war wieder eine Naturklasse bei Letchworth Park.  Wir sind durch den Wald gewandert und haben oft angehalten, um Neues zu sehen und zu lernen.

 Huge vine of poison ivy!
Riesige Giftefeupflanze!

Today was a very small group for this class.  I guess most people were deterred by the snow and cold.
Heute waren wir nur eine sehr kleine Gruppe.  Wahrscheinlich wollten bei der Kälte und dem Schneefall niemand wandern gehen.

 Witch Hazel
Zaubernuß

Using magnifying glasses to look at moss more closely
Wir benutzen Lupen und untersuchen Moos aus der Nähe.

 Pretty green
Schönes Grün

 Milkweed seed race
Wettrennen der Samen der Seidenpflanze

"Big" ant
"Große" Ameise

And now some pictures from this morning at home.
Und jetzt noch ein paar Fotos von heute morgen zu Hause.

 Squirrel swing
Eichhörnchenschaukel

 Somebody is hungry!
Jemand hat Hunger!

    1. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures. Yes, Charlotte is traveling with her father to see a few colleges and to audition for dance.

  2. That's a very plump looking blue jay!

We've been having cold days also. We went from warm and muggy to cold! I'd love some in between 60 degree days :)

It's wonderful to see your Mom working away with Flora on the mending pile.

    1. I think he was cold! We have been getting four blue jays together for a while now.

Right now, we are getting some "graupel." It has been quite cold at night here.

My mom has been terrific with all the mending, ironing, and sewing. There is so much that needs care and I never get to it.

  3. Hello again, Eva. I've been meaning to respond about the college applications. Yes, it can be very daunting, especially when they demand such early deadlines. Did Charlotte make it to Butler? It has a very good reputation and we know someone who is studying there now. Her instagram account is rebeccatschan
She's very nice and if Charlotte wanted to ask her some questions, I'm sure she would oblige. Charlotte can say she knows Chanda. Rebecca and Chanda know each other from a summer intensive with Fabrice Herrault. Videos are also fine to send when one can't make it to the audition. Good luck with it all.

    1. Thanks so much for your kind words! We don't know yet about Butler. They first look at the college application and then at the audition/dance application. The deadline is November 1 for the college application, so we still have to be patient. Most schools look at the college application before they let you audition. With Butler, the application had to be done before she could audition, but the audition was before the college application deadline. However, you still need to wait for the deadline to approach before they inform you. I hope this makes sense! I will pass your information on to Charlotte. Many of the colleges we have been looking at only allow video auditions for students that do not live in this country. And many say that your chances to get in when you do a video audition are very slim. Scholarships are normally not given to students that don't audition in person.
