Final Nutcracker/Abschlußnußknacker

  • We woke up to snow and the sounds of the snowplow.  Der Schneepflug hat uns heute geweckt.
  • We got ready on time and did not forget anything.
  • Flora got car-sick and we stopped and visited some sea-gulls.  They always come inland when the snow hits Lake Ontario.

  • When we got to the auditorium, we were the first ones there, but the building was locked  Als wir zum Bühneneingang kamen, waren wir die ersten und das Gebäude war noch verschlossen.
  • The other company members and our director arrived after a while, but the building was still locked.
  • After about half an hour, somebody from the library staff finally came to let us in.
  • Not only was the building locked, but the bathrooms were still out of order.
  • The dancers were then allowed to walk through the vast library building and use some other bathrooms very far away.
  • Peter and I were going to get some hot soup for lunch, but the grocery store was out of soup.  There was no time to get anything else and so we turned around to get a seat in the auditorium.
  • The bathrooms were still not working and the director of the library told us we should not drink anything.
  • Five minutes before the show, he told us that they opened some bathrooms at the other side of the building that were not connected to the problematic pipes and told people they had about 15 minutes to go there and to get back.
  • Then the ballet finally started, but right before the dancing we were told that there would be no intermission because they did not want people to go to the bathroom again.  At this point the whole affair was rather amusing because there were constant "bathroom announcements."
  • Everybody danced well again and we were very pleased with the whole weekend.

Hm, I am not quite sure what Julia, Maya, and Charlotte are doing here.  Looks like they are taking off their shoes!
Keine Ahnung, was Julia, Maya und Charlotte hier machen.

  1. Hello Eva, the bathroom story is funny! I'm so glad the dancing went well! Your photos are lovely and Flora is a very woebegone looking mouse :) Happy Second Sunday of Advent, xoxo.

    1. I thought so too, especially when they kept announcing "updates." I hope you have recovered from the craft fair by now. We did have a good ballet weekend. In the spring, they want to perform "Peter and the Wolf." Do you know this as a ballet?

  2. Thankgoodness it all went well. Poor Flora, Sara still suffers dreadfully from travel sickness and it is not fun :-( Your bathroom stories were so funny to read but I would imagine not fun in practise! It also looks like there were more than one sugar plum fairy, is that because there were several showings throughout the weekend?

    1. I also get car sick very quickly! I do know exactly how she feels. Yes, there was one for the mini-performance (Charlotte) and one for this regular performance, a professional dancer form Rochester. Charlotte had too many other roles to dance, she could not do the sugar plum fairy as well.

    1. Danke, Sybille.

    1. It is amazing how many we get when winter comes, especially on barren fields! I like that picture also.
