Rising of the Hunter's Full Moon/Mondaufgang des Jägervollmondes

The Children's Year: Seasonal Crafts and Clothes (Festivals (Hawthorn Press))Crafts through the YearWe've been quite busy these last two days.  Veronika started a conker web.  The idea for this can be found in Crafts through the Year and The Children's Year: Seasonal Crafts and Clothes.  It's actually quite a challenging craft for Veronika, but she's been enjoying herself.  We'll need several sessions to finish it.

Veronika also dressed up today.

Jonathan and Charlotte prepared some music pieces on the recorder for the local nursing home.  Together with other children they spend some time with the old people playing games, listening to them, and playing some music for them.

To keep our recorders in working order I oiled them all with linseed oil.

Here is also Jonathan's time line of the Punic Wars and Charlotte's study of angles.

Tonight there was a French and English play called Harlequin by Pierre de Marivaux  (translated by Matthew Woods).  It was very funny and was partly in English and partly in French.  Jonathan and Charlotte went to see it with their father.  We've also all worked hard at longitude/latitude (Jonathan), angles (Charlotte), time tables (Miriam), and the yard (all).  Tomorrow is gymnastics and ballet.

Jahreszeitenschmuck.

  2. Today Miriam started one (of course hers goes much faster).

I think we will need to get our washing machine fixed. A new good one is still more expensive than having this one fixed. It's getting to be a hassle to drive to the laundromat every other day or so.

  4. We're still wondering if we should replace the washing machine or have it repaired. Either way is going to be expensive, but I'm very partial to a European washing machine. That's one area of my American life where I don't want to compromise.
