The Lion and the Mouse/Der Löwe und die Maus

The fable "The Lion and the Mouse" is beautifully illustrated in The Lion and the Mouse, a picture book with almost no words.  After reading the story and with help from Teaching with the Fables, a Holistic Approach, Miriam drew her picture of the two animals. 

Charlotte tried her hand at modeling an alga out of beeswax.

Jonathan drafted two essays on the  Roman Twelve Tables of Law, one in favor of one of the laws, the other one against one of the laws.  We continued our Roman studies and reached Horatius Cocles.  We also read parts of the famous ballad "Horatius at the Bridge."  

Today was the first day of gymnastics.  Miriam, Jonathan, and Charlotte went to their classes, and Miriam and Veronika also had ballet.  Now everybody is working on art history, music theory, and nature stories.  Of course there is always time to play outside.

Die Fabel "Der Löwe und die Maus" ist wunderbar in dem Bilderbuch The Lion & the Mouse illustriert.  Das Buch hat fast keine Worte, ist aber sehr eindrucksvoll.  Nach der Lektüre dieses Buches und der eigentlichen Fabel hat Miriam mit Hilfe von Teaching with the Fables, a Holistic Approach einen Löwen gezeichnet. 

Charlotte hat versucht, aus Bienenwachs eine Alge zu modellieren.

Jonathan hat zwei Aufsätze zu dem Römischen Zwölftafelgesetz vorgeschrieben, einen, welcher ein Gesetz unterstützt, einen, welcher ein Gesetz kritisiert.  Wir haben auch unsere römischen Studien gelesen und sind bis Horatius Cocles gekommen.  Dabei durfte natürlich die berühmte Ballade "Horatius at the Bridge" nicht fehlen. 

Heute war der erste Tag von Gymnastik für Jonathan, Charlotte und Miriam.  Veronika und Miriam hatten auch Ballett.  Heute nachmittag gab es bei uns Kunstgeschichte und Notenkunde, dazu Spiel im Freien.
