Art Appreciation/Kunstgeschichte für Kinder

Today, we did all our regular schoolwork. Charlotte studied adjectives and Miriam drew a picture of the eleven sheaves of corn from Joseph's dream in her main lesson book for number 11. Tomorrow we'll cover number 12, the last number we'll do this way. Then we'll move on to studying addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication. Jonathan had a father-son trip, so he just took some books along to read in the car.

Miriam and Veronika spent some time doing art appreciation with a great program we've been using for all the children for six years now: How to Use Child Size Masterpieces. It consists of many different reproductions of paintings which need to be sorted, matched, or sequenced. There are many levels available, and the child can also learn the names of paintings, painters, and epochs. Veronika used Child Size Masterpieces of Steps 1, 2, 3 - Matching, Pairing, and Sorting - Level 1 Easy, and Miriam used Child Size Masterpieces for Steps 1, 2, 3: Matching, Pairing and Sorting - Level 2 Intermediate.  In the picture Veronika is

finding different paintings by the same painter.  The paintings can also be used for picture study as described by Charlotte Mason.

The children are still enjoying all the snow. Charlotte took Flora for a sleigh ride.  Tonight and tomorrow we're supposed to get more snow.  That will make the children very happy.

Heute haben wir ganz regulär gearbeitet.  Charlotte hat sich mit Adjektiven beschäftigt und Miriam hat elf Korngarben aus Josephs Traum (Altes Testament) für die Zahl 11 in ihr Epochenheft gemalt.  Morgen kommt noch Nummer 12 dran, dann wenden wir uns Addition, Subtraktion, Multiplikation und Division zu.  Jonathan hat mit seinem Vater einen Ausflug gemacht.  Deshalb hat er ein paar Bücher zum Lesen im Auto mitgenommen.  

Veronika und Miriam haben zusammen Kunstpostkarten sortiert.  Es gibt ein phantastisches Kunstgeschichts-programm von Aline Wolf: How to Use Child Size Masterpieces.  Wir haben es schon sechs Jahre lang benutzt und man kann es für verschiedene Altersstufen einsetzen.  Kinder müssen die Reproduktionen von Gemälden sortieren, Paare finden oder in eine bestimmte Reihenfolge bringen.  Später lernt man dann Namen von Künstlern und Kunstepochen und auch Gemälden.  Veronika hat Stufe 1 benutzt Child Size Masterpieces of Steps 1, 2, 3 - Matching, Pairing, and Sorting - Level 1 Easy, Miriam Stufe 2 Child Size Masterpieces for Steps 1, 2, 3: Matching, Pairing and Sorting - Level 2 Intermediate.  Auf dem Bild oben sucht Veronika verschiedene Gemälde des gleichen Malers.  Diese Karten eignen sich auch besonders gut für Bildbetrachtungen, wie sie Charlotte Mason vorschlägt. 

Nachmittags sind Charlotte und Flora zusammen Schlitten gefahren.  Heute Nacht und morgen soll es noch mehr schneien, das wird die Kinder sehr glücklich machen!
