Today is the second Sunday of Ordinary Time.  Catholic Culture has some activities and thoughts for the day.  After church this morning, we finally took down all our last Christmas decorations.  The Christmas tree went outside.  We will keep it until June 24, the Feast of St. John, the Baptist, which is exactly six months after Jesus' birth, when we make a fire and burn the tree.  This has become a beloved tradition.  The children are always very disappointed when everything needs to be put away, so we keep the Epiphany spirit by reading stories about the three wise men.  The book we're reading right now is in German and is called Es zogen drei Könige. Geschichten zur Dreikönigszeit. (Three Kings Were Traveling.  Stories for the Epiphany Season) 

Other than that, we had a relaxing day.  Jonathan listened to football on the radio and offered to iron for me at the same time.  Of course I didn't say no!

Flora is falling in love with our cat Julius.  She's very concerned that he gets his food and that we let him in when he "knocks."  (He's learned to knock at the window to show us that he wants to come in.) 

I had my first pony tail today!/Ich hatte heute meinen ersten Pferdeschwanz!

Heute ist der zweite Sonntag im Jahreskreis.  Catholic Culture hat Aktivitäten und Ideen für den Tag, leider nur auf Englisch.  Nach der Kirche am Morgen haben wir endlich die allerletzten Weihnachts-dekorationen weggepackt und den Weihnachtsbaum nach draußen befördert.  Dort wartet er bis zum 24. Juni, Johanni, wenn wir ihn bei einem Johannifeuer verbrennen.  Das sind dann genau sechs Monate nach der Geburt von Jesus.  Wir machen das schon seit mehreren Jahren und es ist zu einer schönen Tradition geworden.  Die Kinder sind immer traurig, wenn wir alles wegpacken.  Deswegen lesen wir immer noch ein paar Geschichten zur Dreikönigszeit auch nach dem 6. Januar.  Im Moment lesen wir Es zogen drei Könige. Geschichten zur Dreikönigszeit.

Jonathan hat heute wieder amerikanischen Fußball gehört und dabei angeboten, zu bügeln.  Ich habe natürlich nicht nein gesagt!   

Flora hat sich ganz in Julius verliebt.  Sie streichelt ihn viel und ist besorgt, ob er auch genug Futter hat.  Wenn er "klopft", um reingelassen zu werden, achtet sie darauf, daß man sofort zur Tür geht.  (Julius klopft am Fenster, wenn er rein möchte).
