Peter had to dig out the car this morning.
Peter mußte heute morgen das Auto freischaufeln.
He had to run several errands, for example he returned Charlotte's old license plates to the DMV because she has Colorado ones now.
No idea, who took this picture. I found it on my camera.
We also finished our Christmas letter and the children are signing it right now. I have been working on typing up my new syllabus for intermediate German. Peter is still grading some things from last semester. Miriam is going back to Vienna tomorrow and Charlotte is flying back to Denver. Jonathan is leaving in two days. Then we will be down to four people again.
Here are three picture books we have enjoyed.

So viel Schnee. Bei uns liegen auch ein paar Millimeter. ;)
LOL

DeleteNein, wohl nicht.
DeleteIt has snowed several times for us, but only a light dusting. (I'm always amused when I find photos on my phone!)
ReplyDeleteThere is lots of snow back home, lots of Lake effect snow. It must be pretty bad and our pipes might freeze again. Luckily, Peter's colleague goes by our house every day to check on them. My students today complained about cold feet during Zoom. Flora got her own phone now, her very first one. I guess she will not take so many pictures with my phone or camera anymore . . .
DeleteAh . . the modern rite of passage: obtaining one's own cell phone. How good that you have a reliable friend to check on the house.
DeleteYes, I know. We thought she should have one in London. Our friend was there yesterday and the pipes are still okay, but we have a dripping pipe in one of the bathrooms here now.
DeleteOh, that's so worrisome . . did they put a pot beneath the leak and are calling a plumber? And I'm sure it's good for Flora to have one now . . especially if she's traveling about.
DeletePeter put a pot underneath and the plumber came a few days later. He exchanged the pipe and the faucet! So far we have not let Flora do anything on her own, even with a phone. Also, there is a big phone snatching going on in London. People looking at their phones outside get them snatched away by groups on motorbikes. They drive onto the sidewalks and snatch them. I just saw another article on BBC about it and there are warnings all over the place. It is very scary.
DeleteAhh, the phone snatching! Funny you should mention it as Greg had his phone snatched several years ago on Hampstead Heath and my cousin just had her phone snatched this past Christmas when she was there. I'm not sure what neighborhood she was in.
DeleteHa, ha, really, on the Heath? That surprises me. I always thought it was quite safe there. Up at the Kenwood House?
DeleteOops. I made a mistake. Greg is telling me just now that it wasn't on Hampstead Heath (don't know how I got that idea) but on Portobello Road when they were coming out of a restaurant. I guess that makes more sense.
DeleteAh, that sounds more like it! It is known for thefts, but the Heath up here is a good place to be.
DeleteP.S. Nice books! I especially like the Queen Charlotte one with the first Christmas tree in England which you posted on Dec. 30th.
ReplyDeleteThat one is really a nice picture book.
